I think I want to order these. I have two weddings to go to next month and a I need a comfy, yet dressy pair of shoes to wear (one of the wedding receptions will be outside, so I don't want to wear heels that will be sinking into the ground). But, I can't make up my mind if I want to buy these, or the picasso or gloria wedges on the remix site.

I want to buy the pair that I can get the most use out of that will look good with dressy and casual clothing. Right now, I'm leaning towards the pair pictured above, but I keep second guessing myself. Which pair do you ladies think I should get? Please help me make up my mind!

The only thing that would make me hesitate on the ones pictured is the thicker platform. In my opinion, that makes them look (to modern eyes) more orthopedic than retro. The... briarcliffe, I think that's the name, is rather like that; it's an authentic look, but strange to modern eyes.

I have both the picasso and the gloria. The gloria look dressier, since the upper is just like a pump, whereas the picasso is a little more casual like a sandal. (The ones above look like picasso at the front at gloria at the back - a great combination.) Either will work, really, depending on what you're wearing. The gloria is just more dressy than the picasso. If I were you, it'd depend on if I'd be wearing them the most with dressy outfits or with casual.

I don't know how comfy these are, but maybe consider some wedgies with a strap (on top)? I know I can't wear sling-back style shoes for long

Briarcliff's are yummy!

My question, if that's ok, is: I'm saving up for a pair of wedgies (I'm useless in heels!), but considering the price I need a pair that will be worn quite a bit (not just once a year when the sun finally comes out):
I'm thinking of: Style 106 MaryJane ($108) any colour - Style 132 Briarcliff ($148) any colour - Style 101 ($148) bone/brown or dark red/navy - L'amour ($158) red - The Pathway ($89) any colour

Can anyone tell me how versitile (sorry, I can't spell it!!) these would be for everyday 1940's wear? Also, the reason I was looking at the The Pathway is friend of mine said they'd be great for dancing in, but only if they have a light sole (do they?)

That's my ramble out of the way!

I ended up ordering the wedges pictured above that aren't on the remix site. I really like the simplicity of them - I think the higher wedge and glossy leather makes the shoes okay for dressier wear and they're simple enough that you can wear them with more casual clothing as well. I thought I could get the most use from this pair. I also had to consider that I would probably have to put arch supports in the shoes. (I have high arches that lend themselves to plantar fasciitis if I don't wear a supportive shoe.) So they needed to be closed on the sides, unlike the picasso.

Aurora - I didn't see them available in any other color. I let you know what i think of them when they arrive.

just wanted to mention that i saw the Lamour wedges in person at a shop near my house (PedX on NE Alberta if any portlanders are interested) and they are SOOOOO cute. they have them in black. and purple! they also another pair thats not on the website that i thought was kinda fugly.

Regarding the size of the wedges, can anyone help me decide between a 9 and 10?

I'm going to order the Gloria model and my foot measures 10 inches so according to their size chart (http://www.remixvintageshoes.com/sizechart.html) I need a 10, but I was wondering if I should go down a size since it's a sandal. [huh]

Go with the 9's!

My foot's about 10" long as well; I'm about a perfect size 9. When I ordered the person I spoke to recommended a 10, so I got it. And they were huge! The 9's fit almost perfectly. If anything, they're on the wide side.

In my opinion, those measurements were made with a RULER, measuring straight from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel, and not along the curve of the insole. I'm wearing my Picassos right now and that's how they measure. Also, most of the wedges have the very same wedge base. If the fit changes from style to style it's only because of the design of the upper and not because of the wedge itself.

Thanks Sunny! I'm leaning even more towards the 9 now. My foot is on the wide side, but that shouldn't mean anything.

They use the same size chart for the Picasso and Gloria so it should be the same sizing for those two.

I'm still not definitely decided, though, it's a difficult choice because returning them from Europe and then having them send me another size would cost a whole lot, probably around $50-$60 or something...

With a return, you should only have to pay one-way shipping - sending the wrong size back. They'll not charge you extra for the replacement pair.

I just ordered my first pair of Pathway play shoe. On sale for 89.00. I was thinking of the off brand because they were cheaper, but I really want the secure quality of Re-mix. I checked their site to compare the two and these were on sale. YEEPPEEEE.

Any of you ordered from Remix recently? I sent them my payment a month ago and I have not received the shoes nor gotten a reply, I have written them three times. I'm beginning to get pissy. Are they just busy? I don't know what to think...

It turns out that Remix never shipped my wedges! I was pretty amazed, especially since it isn't legal to receive someone's payment without shipping them their goods immediately after.

They had received my money and kept it for a whole month and never answered a single email regarding it. So I think I will be thinking twice before ordering another time, and if I do, I will definitely phone in to do it.

With Remix the only way to order is through the phone. I have heard this complaint about not shipping an order from a retail store owner, I was surprised.

U.K. and other European ladies help me please. I know I'm a U.K. size 5.5 (thanks to Clark's and Primark). I'm a european 38.5 (I usually have to buy 39s because they don't sell half sizes). If you measure my feet flat on paper they are 24 cm/ 9.4" long. I even printed out Payless shoe size chart but I'm none the wiser.
What I'd like to know is what American shoe size am I? I've checked at least four different international shoe size charts and have gotten 7, 7.5 and 8 = three different sizes! Maybe you could even give me a two-in-one answer and tell me both my american size and my Re-mix size! You don't even have to have the same size as me. If you're a U.K. lady with american and re-mix shoes, I can figure out the rest!

Now, this is something that always gives me headache too, but what I've learnt is:

There is really no way to say what your size is, it depends on the shoe, so the safe thing is to look at a size chart for every shoe you buy. For example, if you buy Remix 40's wedges, then you consult their wedge chart. They have different charts for the wedges and for other models. I would think you need a size 8 in Remix wedges.

I ordered the Gloria wedges in size 9, and I'm 39,5 in European sizes, my foot is aprox 10 inches long. I don't know if they will fit, according to the above mentioned size chart I should have bought a size 10, but after reading some of the other loungers' experiences, I decided to order a size smaller since they are slingbacks hopefully generous. But I will let you know once I receive them, and of course you can try them!

For reasons I've never known, he doesn't have the Remix ones on his site, but he regularly either goes over to the LA shop or has the raw parts sent over where he stitches them together. I've had 3 pairs off him so far.

NB: YOU HAVE TO RING HIM. He is TERRIBLE at replying to mails, you'll most likely get nowhere. He does however attend all sorts of rock n roll events all over the country so you can go try on.

Ahhhh!! Perhaps I will give him a bell as my searching isn't turning up anything over this side of the water. And they're built to last so an investment I guess. Agh! Stop encouraging me!!!
