Remaking Casablanca

The basic story has been made many times in movies. From Robert Redford'sHavana to Pam Anderson's Barb Wire.
They don't usually bother to call it a remake.

As bad as it was Pamela Anderson's Barb Wire was the same basic plot as Casablanca. I watched it long ago and I've tried to forget that I watched it...much like she tried to forget she made it. I'm just glad I didn't get the tattoo for real like she did.

To be a "remake" they have to basically follow the script and characterization. To simply use the title is not a remake. Shooting a film that is set 60 years later isn't a remake either even if the story is as close as possible to the original. They're simply takeoffs.

Will probably be better than any remake of Casablanca.
