I,ve seen that surgery done many times.Had my afghan hounds cruciate fixed when he was 10.Good luck with his surgery. The hard part is keeping them from over doing it during recovery.

Thanks. My first as well. Up until a short time ago the only two places in AL for this was at the vet school at Auburn and the guy we're seeing about 25 mi. from here. He's done around 6,000 of these procedures.

Took a shepherd to him years ago when his office was in B'ham. Good guy. I feel pretty good about it but I'd rather it be me.
Greetings Bama:
Exactly the same as with kids! Rather me in a heartbeat than them. Sounds like he will be in good hands. That’s good! Best wishes to his total recovery and hang in there best you can.
Be well both. Bowen

Good luck on the surgery!

Thank you and thanks for this thread, daddyOdO. I post on the Loungers Pets thread occasionally but this one been some fun.

I'm gonna take this opportunity to also thank you for what you do. Having been around special needs kids for a good part of my adult life, through work and relationships, I know that those who educate them are special people. The optimism, good will, patience and untold characteristics one must possess to do such work is almost beyond imagination.

I'm fortunate enough to have a mate with such a child that lives with us. She is 30 yoa and has autism. She functions at a level that I believe, was only reached because of her mothers diligence and the education in the public system the kid received. I can't imagine what it takes to be a Drivers Ed. teacher but the kid had one.

We're fortunate enough that the Public School System where we live makes great effort to bring the special needs kids into the mainstream of everday school life. Thats why Lady B moved to this area and the reason we stay is due to the support system developed by contacts with other students and parents in the public system. The work you and others like you do should not go unnoticed.

Thanks, Greg

That is a great picture! Take care of that pup:)

Thank you, sir. Will do.

Good to know the surgery went well, BB. My dog is the first one I ever crate trained. When she was spayed at about 5 months I left the door open but she stayed in the crate for about a day & a half.

Thanks, HJ. Funny you should mention the crate. This is the first one I ever started in a crate. Twice in the first week we'd come home and he was roaming the house. No damage, just out and about. This was one of those big steel crates with a sliding latch. Finally caught the Jack Russell opening the latch. I've heard of such stories and was always sceptical until I saw it. They're big buds.

I have the wire crate where the door hinges over & lays up on the top. Can't open it without hands & lifting. I keep the crate covered so it is like a den. She goes in it to sleep on her own at night.

Sounds like yours are doing good Bama. Glad to hear that!
Two Labradoodles here. Older male was a rescue. Younger female we bought. When we moved to a new place where they have acres to roam we noticed some unusual behavior. The doors are all latches, not knobs. Started with different rooms always having the doors open when we had shut them. Then the outer doors would get opened middle of the night. Became so common that the younger one started doing it in front of us and then proceeded to teach the older one the same skills. They are quick, quiet and determined. Going in or out! If only they would shut the door behind themselves .

Funny now unless we forget to lock every door when we leave because once they are bored they let them selves outside :)
