Does anyone in the Lounge ever think about it. It is really very interesting. I've always thought that the reason why some are attracted to certain eras is because they are heavily attached to one of their past lives.
For example, maybe you dress vintage and have such an attraction to the Golden Age because of a very important life (to you) you lived then. Whether it be extremely traumatic, or extremely nice.

It's an interesting thought, just thought I'd share! :)

Interesting, yes, but I don't believe in this myself. I kind of remember seeing a similar thread touching on the same topic at The Fedora Chronicles, a year ago, so there are others that share your thought on that.

Not sure if I believe in it, but it is fun to speculate. :)

I was born in 1975. Had I been a young woman in the 20s and 30s in my past life, then dying in 1975 would've been about right.

I'm not sure if I'm a believer in this. My brother and I are the reason my mother is. Ma says I've been stuck in the past, fascinated with ties, hats, antiques, etc, since I was able to walk and talk.

She also thought my brother was the reincarnation of my great-grandfather. He was from Boston originally and moved to the midwest and played for the White Sox in the 1920s. My brother had a Boston accent (still kinda does, and we've always lived in Wisconsin) and could throw a baseball well from the first time he could pick one up.

Well, I'm not sure, but there is a lot of reasons to make me believe in it. I was practically born with a passion for the Victorian and Edwardian eras and the 30s thru the early 50s. My mother has always said I was born at the wrong time and so have friends over the years. If there is such a thing, I hope there's a way to go back, because I really picked the wrong era in which to live this time around.

I've always been 'stuck in the past.' Through the Victorian era up until the late fifties, early sixties. As a child, if I saw or heard something from those periods I immediately perked up. Still do, of course.

That's what my friends and family say, too. Every time we're watching an old movie or something, my pa always goes, "That's where you belong"

I know that's where I belong and no matter what the issues were of the day, I would go back. In a heart beat :)

Exactly! And many people don't seem to get that. I would give up A/C, internet, cell phones, television and it wouldn't bother me. It's truly an attachment. Like a person's child. They can be the meanest person in the world, but you wouldn't give them up for anything!

Me too. People ask me all the time, "Wouldn't you miss TV, Cell Phones, Internet, etc"

My response is always "It didn't exist, how could I miss it?"

Today I walked into my office lobby and there were three people sitting there waiting; the security guard and two people waiting on others. All three of them were busy with their individual iphones, or some similar device. None of them were talking to each other. I don't know about a past life, but in this life this is what we've come to; people would rather text others than talk to folks who are sitting right next to them.

But one would not return so fast. To do so is a mistake. ;)

Why?

I died in August of 1962, and then I came back nine months later. They didn't have my room ready, and I got sick of waiting.

That's funny Lizzie :)

Exactly one of my points of why I don't want to be here.

There is supposed to be a long period of study, reflection, questioning, review. How long? As long as it takes. Time is a human construct.

I'm not saying I believe this stuff.
