Regius Made Leather Jacket

I've got some of Regius' pattern test jackets, some I've painted over with my Angelus dyes, all in different sizings because they're his pattern tests, I have a custom jacket in the queue mainly because I want the Herman Oak hide, but I've got no idea what I want for design. Anyways, here are the pattern tests jackets:

Corded pocket half belt, I think this is his size 46 regular, leather looks painted because I painted it, midnight olive I call it...

Another corded half belt, this one also his size 46 regular I believe,

Your test jackets are lined? Are the hides the same throughout? These don't look like tests, the look like the final product. Do you wear them? They look great!

The reason I may have kept my place in line is that I paid in installments throughout the process. Every month I sent him a couple hundred bucks.
Quite possibly, but I didn't even get as far as a deposit in the process. But ultimately it doesn't matter, I haven't lost anything.

TBH, I don't care anymore. I wouldn't accept another jacket for free. I'm not interested. I would be less pissed if I hadn't seen jackets that I was told he needed "practice" to build for mine (based off an original I sent him), being sent off to wankers who should've been deep behind me in the queue. So now @Aloysius can better understand why I sold the jacket. Had nothing to do with the jacket itself. It's spite. Material things don't leave lasting impressions on me... but actions do.

That really sucks and I know exactly what you mean.

Is this for sale, lol?
They are all complete jackets with lining, but I don't think these were meant for sale. From what I understand these pattern tests would have gone into the bin, they don't have his labels on them. He used scrap leathers to sew together the pattern and test them, there is a lot of different types of leathers in one jacket, I just painted over them to look the same. I remember posting the before pics somewhere before but can't find them.
I can just send the jacket to you, you pay shipping. As long as you understand these are not labeled. You'll see when you get the jacket, there is at least three different types of leather in that aviator jacket and the lining is also wabi sabi, meant for test, not for sale. His for sale jackets are nicer. Dm you later when I get home.

Regius did a nice job on this 50s Sears halfbelt for me. I had an old original that I loved but it was starting to get costly. He was good with me; as I was( and still am) a novice to bespoke clothing. He made some small suggestions that I should have agreed to but didn't, but that's on me:) View attachment 593670
What were the suggestions he made that you wish you had accepted? I have not vetoed any of his suggestions.

The jacket looks outstanding btw. Fit is spot on from what I can tell.

Thanks. Front pocket could have been wider. Also I went with a vintage front zip, a new zip for a new jacket would've been better for longevity. Both things were suggested but I declined. "Let the Artist Work" is something I've grown to appreciate, especially as I didn't really know what I was doing:)

Well that smile on your face is appropriate given what a fantastic jacket you've got on.

@ton312, I’m so sorry to hear about your situation with Regius…
I certainly think your jacket was beautiful.
I hope Regius can fix the customer service issue, as I really hope a forum brother will succeed in this tiny niche market.
The jacket was and is spectacular. There’s no question there and I would never argue anything to the contrary. Regius builds the best stuff. No question. But just like MJ, I take shit personally. For better or worse. It’s water under the bridge for me at this point. Olde Tyme guy look is dead as doornail for me now. Hippie suede or die.

I have never run a business myself; I can understand that sometimes, due to logistics (ie, the desired hide or lining, or buttons, or button machine are not yet available), you may alter the queue; what I never understood is why not investing 10 minutes per week to inform your customers about these delays.
I still remember the GW fiasco with Carlos who had heard nothing from John in more than a year (or what is closer to 18 months?) while new GW jackets were popping out here and the VLJ forum.

Material things don't leave lasting impressions on me... but actions do.
As I originally come from South Europe I can totally relate to it.

Super grateful to @Canuck Panda for sending this test jacket to me. I have not had the chance to handle many high end quality jackets and this certainly fits that description. I get the importance of pattern now. View attachment 596136 View attachment 596137

Wow, that looks fucking great, mane! The jacket accentuates your biceps and shoulders while slimming down your waist. Masculine V-taper frame for sure.
