Regius Made Leather Jacket

Thanks bud, I finally realized that vintage style jackets and low rise slim fit jeans aren't the best match lol.

I found these button boots on my recent trip to Japan. They're from a maker called Chausser. Their shoes and boots are a bit more dressy than boots from makers like Brass Tokyo, The Boots Shop (Rolling Dub Trio) Skoob or what have you.

The jacket weights 2,8 kg which is about 6.2 lbs according to Google. The temper is comparable to thick deerskin but slightly denser. Horween CXL is very stiff and waxy, this is not that.

Out of the box the HO doesn't have much color depth. I think the color depth will get better with wear as the naked hide will absorb oils and fats but I'm impatient so I gave it a coat of clear Urad to instantly enhance the color depth.

Very impressive. 6+ pounds for that style and size makes it a very substantial jacket in my book. Thank you for the information.

Mine is definitely black.

Which style to do have in mind for the natural HO?
A smash up between these two no names:

Something like this below but natural hide:

Just something simple in design. Letting the hide and the comfort pattern do most of the lifting on this one. Regvis Speedway...

I.7mm wow, that has to be one of your thicker hides.
I love those pleats or ribs on the back panel, correct my terminology if they have a specific term.
Reg will be the first maker that I’m going to let him make all decisions, just sit back and let him decide linings, thread, fit, etc. once you talk with him, the man knows his stuff.

"Let the artist work", that's what I learned with Regius. There's small things he suggested on my last jacket that I decided against and later regretted. Not deal breakers in any way, just better suggestions. He knows what he's doing for sure. This next jacket that he's doing for me is all him for the most part. Always exciting to see what he comes up with:)

I would also have liked to have had a Regius masterpiece, but then I didn't hear anything more from him and didn't want to push. I thought that when the time was right, it would be something.

I have one coming in Herman Oak, a simple straight zip half-belt. I'll post it here when it comes, hopefully in the next week or two. I'd love to see more examples of his work so if anyone in the TFL community has one please post it!

Out of curiosity, when did you begin the process?

This is precisely why I sold my Regius jacket. No offense to you but I had been in the works for a second jacket for a year. It got nowhere. I did get a bunch of bullshit excuses, I see him make jackets using elements the original I sent him (which he claimed he needed to "practice"). When my first was done I paid him $200 over what he wanted for it, because I thought he earned it. You take care of the people that take care of you. Otherwise, you **** off. I sold my jacket purely b/c the sight of it pissed me off.
Best of luck with yours though.

Dang, I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I've been lucky in that the process has been seamless. Maybe he focuses on first time customers so he can spread the love? I do know that he's a one-man operation and that he does this as a hobby on the side of his regular job. Maybe projects fall through the cracks in that situation. That doesn't excuse it. Your frustration sounds warranted.

TBH, I don't care anymore. I wouldn't accept another jacket for free. I'm not interested. I would be less pissed if I hadn't seen jackets that I was told he needed "practice" to build for mine (based off an original I sent him), being sent off to wankers who should've been deep behind me in the queue. So now @Aloysius can better understand why I sold the jacket. Had nothing to do with the jacket itself. It's spite. Material things don't leave lasting impressions on me... but actions do.

I had an exchange with him in February 23 and "pulled" a ticket for the waiting list, but unfortunately haven't heard/read anything since.
Good thing I have enough leather jackets lol.
All good in that respect, especially as I now have no idea what I wanted anyway.

The reason I may have kept my place in line is that I paid in installments throughout the process. Every month I sent him a couple hundred bucks.
