Well behind the front lines!
Nice! I’d like to someday get down there for an event, as I’ve heard good things. Right now I’m working at being a correspondent for the startup British magazine devoted to the hobby, maybe it’ll give me an excuse to go down to an event to cover it for the magazine someday.
As for the 2nd ID stuff, I was a proud wearer of that patch on active duty (1998-2001) and live near all the stateside Brigades of the Division today. I’ve toyed around over the years with forming a 2nd ID group here, but everyone wants to be paratroopers. Sometimes I wear my M-1 pot I painted for that outfit with my old rank when using my 1944 Willys at parades and such:

Second to none! HOOAH!

That is awesome!!! You'd be more than welcome to fall in with us if you do come down here...nothing beats riding around in a tank! Especially when we get the whole squadron out. Thanks for your service p51! The airborne get too much credit...some people think E Company won the war alone...and I'm gonna get off my soap box now.

Whether it's American Civil War, Napoleonic, WW2 - or whatever - famous or Elite units are always over represented in reenacting.

Of course because they ALWAYS get the good press. And what I have found is that most of the elite units...don't participate at events as well, or as enthusiastically as others...I can remember a battle were a certain "elite unit" decided to take an hour long lunch break after a 30 minute fire fight to push through the German lines. First battle they brought the Hetzer out. And the allies moved back to reorganize...and you see the unit sitting on this hill, gear off, uniform partially off...eating and jawing. On the opposite side of the valley I saw an SS patrol just watching us. 3 Guys with binoculars and a radio. And less than 5 minutes later...we see a company of Fallschirmjagers coming down the hill straight at us. Someone commented that it was like Zulu. And that certain elite unit just sits there...and lets the Germans walk right on through, of course most of us shot em up while they were in the field. But I mean COME ON!

What unit were you with may I ask?
The 82nd ABN I was active until about 5 years ago. It's been dis banded again
I am "Dis Banded of Brothers". I'm sure there's still an ABN unit the 101st no doubt. I now just show up at Ft Mac for the LA Air Raid and the Summer thing.

Granada yes the CHG I was a member since the 80s. That is where I got to know Juan Gonzales from. He was our Sgt. for a while before he got that REMF gig. Now old Sgt is a Quartermaster. I run into him once in a great while he's a good guy.

The 82nd is now defunct, this 82nd has no association with the 8nd LHA which disdains the CHG.
Stan is a great guy so is his son Seth. I sold Stan my prized Inland Carbine years ago. The Carbine was all original flip sight and "I" cut stock. I also sold him my Wools and M-41. Ron Lane had that neat Museum in Anaheim by the freeway. You probably heard that story where Goerings pistol was sold at his shop. I heard Ron was naturally PO and was packing heat after that.

Yeah the original 82nd AB which was started when the CHG started has been gone for about 5-7 years. We still have the 101st 506th Easy boys... there is an 82nd with the RPS...but they are pretty much gone too. The 82nd Living History Association (LHA) is a totally independent entity that don't go by the same rules as other organizations go by. ie, safety and authenticity standards.

Stan is still Chairman of the board, he doesn't fight anymore hes been honorably discharged. Wow with an I Cut? I hope you got your moneys worth for that! lol youd be right about Ron, hes a wily old man...but hes still alive and well. The museum is lost...he lost it in some court battle and the entire collection was sold at Manions. He still has his Stuart tho. I have one of the Books from Rons museum...I have been considering giving it back to him, but I dont want to bring back any bad memories.
