Real McCoy's London

I just had a promo email saying that it's opening in December.

It's on Henrietta Street, which already has the Cabourn store, and a short walk away from Rivet and Hide and American Classics.

Yeah, it's becoming an increasingly expensive part of town...

Oh, the Japanese stuff is always hugely expensive in the UK but it's also really nice and well-made, so it can be hard to resist...

I have seen Superdenim's pricing and I agree (same for BiG in the US). I cannot imagine the RMC store will be any different. Fortunately, RMC products are available for considerably less directly from RMC Japan (the current USD/Yen conversion rate is amazing). Although the UK may have considerable import tariffs, I have never had to pay any import taxes on items received (in the US) from Japan. For whatever reason, items shipped through Japan EMS fly under the US customs radar (don't know about the UK).

I doubt I'll have the sort of money they'll be after - especially not at this time of year, but nonetheless it'll be nice to be able to window shop anyhow, especially for stuff like the nylon jackets (I'm hoping they do those) which aren't readily available from UK makers. They might even have a sale at some point...

Do Real McCoy's do any civilian stuff? That, for me, is where the Japanese take it to a whole new level, and where I think they've been truly world leaders.

Real McCoy's is the military line, Buco is the motorcycle label and Joe McCoy is the workwear. For the work coats etc, I think they are licensed to reproduce some Lee denim items. They do make a couple of half belts under the Joe McCoy label. Their civilian jackets are not particularly appealing though. They do offer a few horsehide boots.

Aha! Thanks, that clarifies it. Anyone know if they'll be doing any of those in the London shop? Pity in a way, but it'll be easier to walk away from the military stuff for me, heh. All that said, the more of these stores open, the better.... surely a little healthy competition should push the inflated UK market price down just a bit?

(By the by.... when hunting for their line on the web, I stumbled across the RMNZ site. Beautiful jackets. The website is very, uhm... 1994 though. ;) )

I doubt they will only sell the military stuffs in a shop. Afterall, RM's collection is small compared to say Buzz Rickson's. Superdenim also carries Joe McCoy merchandise and since (I think) Superdenim is running the London shop, it is likely that there will be civilian stuffs there. For a preview, here is the Superdenim link

I think the RM london is run by the guys from superdenim, so if you look at the superdenim website, they do offer more military staff (a2, a37j8, n1 etc) more then the JM line.

I would assume they will do the same in store?
