Real Mccoys Buco J-24 Fit Advice

Was wondering what others think of how this jacket fits me. Obviously the sleeves are very long, feels nice in the shoulders, but the body is much bigger than i care for. Especially unzipped it flares out a lot. I do worry the next size down would be much too tight on my chest. I do have an odd body shape, as i have broad shoulders and chest and a fairly small waist. Plus im short. So i often have these types of issues with jackets. I do care for something on the trimmer end and i wont be layering. The thickest layer id wear is an oxford , which i have on here.

I really want to love this jacket. New fit size 44.

The sleeve is quite a bit longer, but this is not critical. Overall, the jacket fits very well. If you buy a smaller jacket, it will be too small for you in the shoulders and chest

It looks absolutely fine.

But that doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is if you feel comfortable wearing it, and cooler than you feel not wearing it.

Doubts won't go away no matter what strangers on the internet say. Equally, if you love it then it won't matter if anybody says it doesn't fit right.

If you don't like it you won't wear it.

If you do you will.

Looks great to me. The way it flares out, which I cant really notice to be honest, will I am sure go as you wear it and it conforms to your shape, likewise the arms will get shorter as you wear it

Looks good, just needs a bit of break in. I think one size down will end up too tight in the waist.

Looks good. Maybe too tight across the shoulder, especially the back of your neck looks like a pressure point. I like the sleeve length.

Agreed that the sleeve length looks fine, and definitely anything smaller would be a problem in every other area. Sleeves might hike up ever so slightly after more wear as the sleeves crease up from wear.

I think it's easy to yearn for a really tight fitting jacket but IME something that's slightly big is always going to get more wear than something that's slightly small.

But I think @barnabus has it right, the only thing that matters if if you feel good in it otherwise it's never going to feel right. But from the outside the fit looks good!

Thank you all. I agree. The fit is perfect. Even just wearing it for a few days it has lost some of it’s initial boxiness. Its rare for me to find a jacket that fits my shoulders and chest and not being too long and loose so i am happy. After all, this is a jacket, not a shirt.

Mouton collar arrives today. Ill post some nee pictures when i get it. Appreciate everyone’s feedback!

You're asking us for feedback. An untucked oxford looks ridiculous here and makes the proportions of your jacket look off, when they're fine.
This.

To the OP: it's about trying to give you the best feedback we can. Having an untu ked shirt completely throws proportions off.

From what I can see, the jacket looks like a solid fit overall. Long in the sleeve and tight in the shoulder a bit, but if you csn move around its probably good. That said, it's a bit hard to tell how the body length and fit of the mid se tion and bottom of the jacket are with your shirt untucked.

I don't get why the people who come here and make first posts basically using us as a service get so aggressive at the people giving them free help. I wonder if the ones who go on to become normal regulars look back at it with embarrassment.

Agreed. He says you don't need to worry about his shirt, but we absolutely do because it's preventing us from helping him.

At this point, I actually think it may be a good idea for the fit check thread someone made to be pinned to the top of the forum. It's not the OP's fault, just seems like a good idea to make that thread more noticeable for new people.

@Peacoat @Edward
Any chance this could happen? I believe this is the following thread...

I think it might also help if the tucking request is clarified from our side, from the off. Unless it's a Hawaiian shirt, I tuck all mine in, but that's very much not the norm nowadays. Bearing in mind in this part of TFL we attract many, many people with (at least initially) no interest in a vintage look beyond the leather jackets, it might help to say from the off why we request an untucked shirt - "It's very difficult to judge length properly if we can't see where your belt line sits" or whatever, which comes across very differently to someone who (as here) might read an unexplained "tuck your shirt in" as a criticism of their style choices. A newbie might not necessarily think of the practicality when judging fit if they are an habitual untucker.

Guys, why don´t you cool it. I am sure it´s possible to give advice without lecturing anybody or "commanding" somebody to dress in a specific way.
We are priding ourselves to be "helpful", yet we (some) make a regular point about how "newbies" need to fit in first.
