Pull out the Tuxedos

I have had no luck finding a vintage tuxedo....although I have not tried for very long. I will probably try buying a new or slightly used one tomorrow so that I can have it for the Queen Mary.

Now if any of you happen to have a vintage 46R in good shape that you don't need..... ;)

Since I am an American Express card holder, they send me their magazine titled, "Destinations". It is for the filthy rich....which I am not. They do have some very cool retro/vintage style ads since most of their readers are wealthy and middle aged or older.

They had an article in theit September issue on formal wear. The writer talks about the different tuxedoa he has had over the years and his disapointments with them. In the end he has one custom tailered for him by Stephen Kempson in New York. His tuxedos start at $3500.

They list a few other places that will create a custom tux for you starting from 5k-7k. That is the starting, basic versions.

I wish I had the kind of money that some people blow.

That's my size!!!! If only I could find a tux in the 34S!

I hear you.

If only i could find more vintage in this size, i'd be a happy man. Pickings in Indiana are, as they say, slim. I'm hopeful that a short trip to San Francisco in the near future will lead to good finds. I recall someone in another thread saying that the only sizes still available in CA were the small ones. If not, ebay is the place, i guess. The suit i just won on ebay is out at the cleaners but i'll post some pics in 'show us yer suits' soon (along with the excellently bad measurements taken by the seller).

Was that the 50's blue gab DB suit with the really narrow waist? I was going to take a chance on that but changed my mind. I've been the victim of too many people who don't know how to measure.

They look great man, I love those narrow lepels that make it looks so classic. When you said house talior, you meant on of the ones who has a shop in the Pentagon or does it personally(for an individual) in the Pentagon?

Gentlemen,
The tuxes look great, especially Dan's. That look is amazing. Well done, Old Sport.

I have a question, this being my first QM. My tux is contemporary:

If you click on it, it will get larger.
Would it be better to wear a contemporary tux for Sir Winston's or to go with one of my vintage-inspired suits, such as:

Thanks, you advice is sincerely appreciated.
