Those old ones definitely shape a lot differently!

Have you thought about getting a leather stamp for replacement hat bands? One where you can put the original model, maybe even write it in. It might sound silly, but buyers over on eBay would put value in your certification. Or at least I would, definitely over a blank sweatband.

I'm considering a way to mark my 1937 factory reject Open Road since the sweatband went to pieces but I'd still like to keep some note of it's origin.

Incredible Bob! Love the provenance with the vintage advertisement. It has all the bells and whistles of an early hat. It is great that the tip logo is so nice. I enjoyed this one.
