The interesting thing for me about any home dye job is will it run when you are in the rain? I alway wonder how stable dyes are. The photo looks great although I prefer the original Brooks brown. :D

Sure! Of course I had the same fear/doubt about "what if it get wet".
So, I sparge water on the jacket to simulate rain drops. And it seems the wax has made it's job very well. The water wasn't absorbed by the leather. :)
I do like the brown leather. And I felt a little sad for changing it's color. But I already have a brown one. When I saw how the dye turns out, I didn't regret of dyeing the jacket. :)

I think you did an awesome thing! If I had a couple of these jackets, I'd do the same but I'm broke and overprotective of all my jackets, so... But yeah, I think once the brown undertones start showing thru, it's gonna be the best looking Brooks ever.

Very nice work RBM! That wax should really help with keeping the black black if you will. And yes, you took something some folks might dispose of and made it unique and like new. Wonder what your seller would think if you sent them of photo of it now?

One of my bucket list jackets recently acquired from a friend. It had been hanging in a closet for years and I finally got him to sell. Schott 141 in naked cowhide. Manufactured in 83 or 84 because it has the Schott label on the pocket used those two years only.

Cheers, mate. I've been wearing this thing nonstop lately and I'm glad to see it's paying off.

It does pay off! Schott CR that I have just flat out refused to budge for months since I got it and only now it's really starting to look like I haven't just walked out of the store with it. But that's how it goes with heavy leather. :)

Question to all the CR fans - would the top sleeve zippers be an overkill on a cordo jacket? Or rather, where would you have sleeve zippers on a Cordovan cafe racer jacket?

Personally I prefer zippers on the top sleeves. And I have a brown Kehoe with top sleeve zips, so I don't think, from a historical perspective, that having them on a Codovan cafe racer would be unusual. In fact, I would find them desirable.
