Cal Leathers ID'd it as one of theirs. But I've got two and both are without a maker tag so I can't claim anything. 60's or late 50's, I'm not sure. They're rare but do pop up occasionally. These are my favorite CR's and by far. Here's the other one:

Superb! These two jackets would solve my CR-conundrum, go for two-pockets or four-pockets Really nice! I find myself eyeing those old Brooks leather jackets that show up on the Bay all the time, always hold off saying I'll wait for the rarer Beck, Cal, ABC, Brimaco ... maybe I should grab myself a nice Brooks along these lines soon.

Yeah, that four pocket one is weird. And very long, 28" or more! Quite heavy, too. 6 or more lbs which for a CR is a lot.
Brooks have been known to take care of that CR itch. Tremendously good jackets. I just prefer this one because of the shoulder gussets and 'cause it's a bit heavier, but there's really not much difference. Brooks, Beck, Fidelity, Brimaco, early Schott, Bates, especially Bates; these old CR's are unmatched and you literally can't go wrong with either. Shame we only see repros of the J100.
There's a Beck 666 repro in Japan which is probably the nicest jacket I've ever seen. Insane stuff. But why am I telling you this? You got a Vanson Comet so there's really no way to top that.

That Beck repro is a seriously nice jacket! Yes, I'm liking my Comet more and more every time I wear it, wouldn't have minded shoulder gussets on it though. Also, I'll probably get myself a Vanson Model B eventually, can't justify it right now. And yeah, I've been paying closer attention to the older CR makes out there, I know I'll grab one sooner or later - all thanks to you bro ;)

Any time, man! :) There was this one Vanson on eBay not too long ago, it was a horsehide Comet with shoulder gussets. It was seriously... Unbelievable. It looked INSANE! The leather must've been like 5 oz or more. That was the old Vanson HH which I am absolutely convinced was Horween. Looked just about the same. Seriously, I don't think I've seen anything like it. Didn't even cost too much, all things considered. But the seller said the back was 22.5" and more importantly, the sleeves were only 23" or something like that so I had to skip on it. But I wonder to this day if he measured it right. I would have no reason to look at another jacket if it worked.

I picked up a new-to-me Fidelity cafe racer that's in great condition and has a unique deep brown (almost charcoal) to light brown patina. The jacket has so little wear, I don't think that patina is due to exposure or wear. Not sure how that effect was achieved--any ideas?

It also has a distinct striping effect on the right sleeve, and I'm not sure what causes that either, but it's not damage. The leather is heavy and substantial -- could it possibly be horsehide?

However, I'm bummed because I think the fit is too tight around my lower abdomen. It feels like I'm wearing a girdle with it zipped up, and that's with the lining removed and the side adjusters all the way out. The collar is pretty tight with the button snapped. Tagged a size 38.

Pics below. I'm interested in your feedback :)

^Nice, Monitor. What brand is it?

I decided to return the Fidelity pictured above. Too damn tight.

It didn't fit bad at all! But yeah, jacket that's a little too tight becomes a nuisance much sooner than the one that's much too large... Best jacket I ever got was Vanson House and I sold it for the same reason. Almost couldn't move once it was zipped, couldn't layer so after a while it became unbearable. And I survived a Canadian winter in it. But it had to go. Even tho everyone is still telling me to this day how it was the coolest and the nicest jacket I ever had. And it was...
The racer is identified as Cal.

Excellent jacket from ToysMacCoys... Recently, before purchase of a jacket -I was faced by the difficult choice: this jacket, or Flat Head Cafe Racer Jacket ( Both of them are beautiful on the...)?
