I appreciate the suggestion, i'll get working on the bailey, maybe i can get it back in action after all this time.

As for the knox, i figured it was, as it looked like something from that era. It's definitely a nice hat, if i could find a hat like that with a wider brim i'd be quite pleased. I'll look into doing what i can with the jaxon. It certainly could be worse!
......you can find a lot of nice vintage knox hats on ebay, depending on your size......you might even do better and be pleasantly surprised. [huh]

Stetson OR Style- Clear Beaver 7X

I posted over in the ebay thread when I won this one.

I didn't post it here until tonight because I wanted to do some work on it. It was very clean, but I did want to dunk it to reshape and stretch it just a bit. I finally got that done, and I really love this thing now.

The color is like nothing else I own. In some light, it's a subtle light gray. In other lights, it looks like the silver belly biege. I'm showing pictures with and without flash so you get the idea. The felt is stiff, but very light and extremely smooth.

Took me awhile to get the bash and front slope of the brim just right, but I love it now.

Anyone want to guess on dating? My own guess would be '70s.

Best,
Anj

Nice lid, Anj! :eusa_clap

It's not clear to me how long the 7X Clear Beaver Quality was offered by Stetson or its successors. I'm inclined to think that, by definition, such a lid would pre-date the closing of the Stetson factory in 1970, but I'm not certain of this.

Cheers,
JtL

Thanks, guys. Jimmy, I bet you're right about this hat being produced before the closure.

Crown is 4 1/2 as bashed. Brim is 2 1/2 all around.

Bianchi....

Bianchi arrived today.

This is what it looked like out of the box.....Bianchi except very dusty and the liner fell right out of it. :eusa_doh:

I gave it a good steam and clean and reblock with a Diamond crease. I didn't remove that Fan/Bow thing yet, because if I do, then Im going to have to replace the whole ribbon or try and match a bow to the existing ribbon. [huh]

This hat's felt is super thick and very heavy, a good winter Lid. It's one of the tallest crowns I own @ 5.5" (open) 2 3/8" brim and a 1 3/4 grosgrain. That Bow thingy is pretty large @ 4.5" wide and 2.5" tall. The sweat isn't that great either, pretty cheap and a bit cracked. It's a little big on me, they said it was measured @ 22" but I should've known better with a 7 1/8. Anyways, it was worth what I spent on it. It's a great color though, more on the rust side of the brown spectrum. The pic of the liner is the truest color.

Brand New Open Road

This is the Silver Belly Open Road I got on sale from Orivs, thanks to Woodie for his heads up thread! I got it for $29 buckaroonies.

I'm working on the bash now, but this one just seem to appear while I was working on it. I don't know what this bash is called, similar to a diamond.

GWD, that OR looks great. How stiff is the felt? Good price regardless.

It's pretty stiff, especially brim, I'm still working on it trying to get it to snap, but, it's not as easy as an older more pliable felt. I haven't received my hat blocks yet, but when I do, I'll re block and start from scratch.
