R. & M. Wenger "Elasticon", 59cm, possibly later 1920s. This is my first R. & M. Wenger Stiff Felt find after looking for many years. The black Fur Felt is very dense with a fine smooth finish. A jaunty shorter length bow is a stand out. Great looking form and high quality overall workmanship. Also the condition is excellent.

Unfortunately the original cord was removed.

Very nice find, Steve. Older Wegener hats are tough to find, which is a bit odd for what I think was a prolific maker.

I have to second Stefan: Really a cool and very rare find, Steve. I haven't come across a pre war Wegener stiff felt yet - and in this size and condition!

Stefan, Thank you! They (Soft Felts and Stiff Felts) are tough to find. I have record of two other Wegener Stiff Felts on my website and they are both "Elasticons".

Matt, Thanks! Yes, I was surprised to find it. It had a thick spacer behind the sweatband so I asked the seller to check for a paper label. Turns out it fits perfect too. I got very lucky with the B.B. Ascot and this one.
