J. Hückel´s Söhne "Plume", 58 cm, F.P. 5 1/2, 128 grams possibly early 1930s maybe late 1920s. The Stiff Felt came with an original J. Hückel´s Söhne internal wood frame Cardboard Box (see below) which is something I have been looking for many years. The Stiff Felt is in mint condition and overall is really fantastic (one of my finest). The black Felt has a great finish and is light in weight. The black Liner has a gold embossed JHS Crest that is offset by a off white textured + decorated Sweatband. The Bow design unique + striking. Also came with a JHS external Paper Size Tag (see below) which is also an item that I have been looking for a long time. The shop that sold all this was located in Užhorod, Czechoslovakia which was part of the Austrian Hungarian Empire up to 1919 and today Ukraine. This all came from a Czech source.

There is only a tiny portion of the Paper Label left.

Vented Spacers were behind the rear of the Sweatband. Their installation most likely caused the missing Paper Label. Highly possible they were supplied to the shop by JHS.

One of those hats that never goes out of style.

As arrived. 1940s / early-1950s Royal Deluxe Stetson Open Road. It arrived with a center dent crease. Unusual for an Open Road. The felt shapes so easily ... but it doesn't quite fit me.

I’m not a big fan of stiff felt, but that’s one beautiful hat, Steve. There’s a richness and luxuriousness to those old hats that even the best modern hats just don’t have.

I know little about paper labels and the like, but the bow, liner and sweat band are striking. I particularly like the sweat band. And the way you describe the felt…spectacular. And all in a box designed to survive the USPS!
Congratulations!
Gary, Thanks! The seller packed the Hat Box so well that it took me ~ 15 minutes to unwrap all the plastic padding.

Brent, Thank you! I just can't resist when I find something like this in my size range. I was actually more excited about the box. :) The seller didn't tell me about the external size tag.

Stetson Whippet - Caramel
5 inch crown as shaped
1 1/2 chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon
2 5/8 brim with 3/8 bound edge

Thanks go out to @BobHufford for the heads up on this newest addition to my whippet pack. Love this light brown caramel color and ribbon combo. A few shades lighter than my “milk chocolate” whippet.

Glad it found a spot in your collection Joe. Looks good on ya!
Thank you Bob. Definitely hits a sweet spot with that color. Pretty sure it will be part of the grab and go gang.
Great addition Joe! I love the old Whippets.
Thanks Simeon. They really do have great proportions. The quintessential 50s Fedora.
Awesome! Nice to have friends who look out for you too.
Indeed it is. I appreciate you guys very much. ONE DAY. I’ll find something for you and Bob you haven’t found on your own. LOL.
Great score, Joe!
Thank you Stefan. It is of course not without its warts.. like the color fading on the crown and ribbon… probably from stacking and brill cream. Nothing that can’t be written off as character.…. Or maybe “special two tone” model. LOL

I went in to my local hat shop today and found some new hats! I'm sure these are generally "below" you guys, but I wanted to do some business locally and found a few hats I can wear a lot and not care too much if anything happens to them. I will say that the Alfonso D'Este cap is really nice...fits like a glove, super soft, very light weight, and the lining is great. (I never would've gotten this cap if not for my wife's prodding, but I am really liking it!) The straw hat will get a workout all summer, and that porkpie is very soft...the crown can easily be manipulated. The big thick rolled edge with binding is awesome, but doesn't show too well in the pic below.

The shop owner was running a 40% off sale and her pricing on these is all from whenever she first acquired them, so VERY reasonable...$215 out the door for all 3. I will just post her comments/photos...the shop is "Classic Hats for Men (and Women)" in Des Moines, IA. She sells out of the first level of her house.

Jason came to his appointment today and found a cap and two hats he liked. This 8 panel cap is a nice plaid, high quality, made in Italy by AD via Stefeno. Next up his hat choices.

Here’s Jason’s summer hat — the Nantucket by Stetson in navy milan braid with florentine braid - naturally ventilating at the crown. Looks cool, so to speak!

Jason got the Noah by Stefeno in soft brown fur felt. It’s a pork pie with a turned up brim and black ribbon trim. FLW wore a similar hat.

Okay, here's a close-up of the porkpie as the photo above doesn't really showcase the ribbon work, rolled edge, and binding. Also, you can see how soft the hat is too...nice to find that on a porkpie as my black Scala porkpie is very stiff, but looks very dressy/classy. This Stefeno is such a nice soft color and soft feel as well.

Welcome to the FL.

You've picked yourself three very nice groovy hats. They are definitely not "below" this forum. Wear them with joy and pride.

Looking forward to seeing your next acquisitions.
