A blue Borsalino is at the lower end of the hats that came in this week. Admittedly it is a lter production hat and I bought it to move it along quickly, but it does say something about the others.
Borsalino stingy brim fedora in blue. Size 56 with the raw edge brim just under 5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Weighs 97 grams. Proportioned, shaped and feeling like a little hat. Made during a difficult period in Borsalinos' history. It is what it is. Colour is lovely though.

Bought at the same time and came with a box (sans lid though).
Motsch hat in grey/taupe colour called selce (flint). Size 57 with the overwelt brim at 5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Very soft felt with hardly any stiffener it seems. didn't call it a fedora, because it leans more towards the camber style that was so popular in France. This one was made in Italy for Motsch, but the label doesn't give us any clues who made it. Not the finest Motsch I've handled; the ribbon work looks a bit hurried, but still a nice find.
It's a true 57, so too roomy for me.

Bought at the same time with what? Well, with this other Motsch of course.
Motsch foulard hat in black. Size 57 with the overwelt brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. This the earlier hat of the two. Same camber style as the other one, but this is the earlier hat and the better one of the two. Soft and springy felt, which resists easy creasing somewhat. Even more roomy than the other one. All in all a very nice and well made hat.

This was a nice find. I mentioned before I don't need any black homburg hats, but this was an early Brummel's, so what needs must. Turned out it's not a homburg at all, but a lords hat. Nice surprise there.
So. Brummel's Elite lords hat in black. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. The brim curl is really nicely done, one of the finest I've seen, and this give the hat a nice sleek and elegant look. Some of the stitches already gave way, so I don't want to look under the sweatband anymore. It is an early one though, late forties, early fifties likely.

This one was more than a pleasant surprise. Seller's pictures weren't very revealing, but a Morreton in the right size in blue for the right price; why not? And here it is.
Morreton Prestige Chamois in blue (navy). Size 56 with the overwelt brim at 7cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. The proportions are spot on and the crown looks more generous than its measurements suggest. The overwelt is extremely narrow and even. The hand of the felt is nice, but doesn't scream "chamois" finish right away. You could be forgiven for thinking it was a regular felt. Its best feature by far is the glorious blue colour: not too close to black to notice and not too blue to be garish.

Some great catches there, Stefan. The Morreton is definitely a super blue. My pick is the Brummel's though.

Everyone needs another black hat if it's like that one.

I hope you don’t mind, Stefan, but I’ve saved a couple screenshots to show a hatter what a brim curl is supposed to look like. Love this hat!

I can see why that one caught your eye, Steve. There's lot to like there.

Well spotted, Brent. I've seen and handled quite a few homburgs and lords hats, but this brim curve is absolute perfection. Don't think I've seen better on any other hat.

My “1960s or ‘70s” ;) Mallory XV homburg arrived in good time and in even better shape. The crown is sooo soft and thin. It dry creases like a dream. First thing I did was to pop it on my head and a let out a grown: it’s just a little too small for me. Then as I was folding back the thin leather sweatband I found size reducers all around the hat behind the sweat! It’s still not quite as large as I would like, but it genuinely fits. Guessing the actual date of manufacture was the fist half of the 1940s…much more common for sellers to think their hats are older than they actually are.

Congratulations on a very sweet get that’s better than advertised!
And, surprise! It’s actually a 7 5/8!
sellers are, too many times, incorrect at everything. Color, size, style, make, model, age, etc.
Airy now and then they get something right!

(Sellers should be militarily forced to read most of the pages of TFL before permitted to list vintage hats!)

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Plume", 58 cm, F.P. 5 1/2, 128 grams possibly early 1930s maybe late 1920s. The Stiff Felt came with an original J. Hückel´s Söhne internal wood frame Cardboard Box (see below) which is something I have been looking for many years. The Stiff Felt is in mint condition and overall is really fantastic (one of my finest). The black Felt has a great finish and is light in weight. The black Liner has a gold embossed JHS Crest that is offset by a off white textured + decorated Sweatband. The Bow design unique + striking. Also came with a JHS external Paper Size Tag (see below) which is also an item that I have been looking for a long time. The shop that sold all this was located in Užhorod, Czechoslovakia which was part of the Austrian Hungarian Empire up to 1919 and today Ukraine. This all came from a Czech source.

There is only a tiny portion of the Paper Label left.

Vented Spacers were behind the rear of the Sweatband. Their installation most likely caused the missing Paper Label. Highly possible they were supplied to the shop by JHS.

I know little about paper labels and the like, but the bow, liner and sweat band are striking. I particularly like the sweat band. And the way you describe the felt…spectacular. And all in a box designed to survive the USPS!
Congratulations!
