Mid-1950s Lee, Blue Label, "Double Brim". Size 7-1/4. 2" brim, 5-1/2" open crown with what Lee calls a Back Shackle bow. Not sure what the "Double Brim" is about. It's doesn't feel like it was folded over (two brims). Maybe thicker? (Edit: Oh ... I found this description in a 1956 Lee ad: "Features light-weight custom center-crease crown and extra-firm raw-edge brim that keeps its distinctive curl intact.") . Some light mothing here and there (of course). The fade would make it go well with your favorite Lee jean jacket.

Interesting Lee, Bob. Never heard that term "Back Shackle Bow" before, but I have a few of those.

I've never seen a wind cord placed in the middle of the bow before either. Just goes to show that I don't have enough hats

Dobbs Jet 707. Not sure of the age -- maybe 1970s or 1980s based on the size tag with no metric equivalent (?). This is still a current model I believe. 1-7/8" under-welt brim with one row of stitching and a 5" open crown. Size 7-1/2. The color is "Saber" ... staying with the aeronautic theme. There is some red discoloration on the crease high points. Not sure the cause -- maybe some sort of sun fade?. It was shipped in a hat box with three other hats and all were sitting on a kid's paper "crown" hat that had a red, velvet insert. This also put glitter all over the hats as the package bounced around the country. This hat fits me, but I have gray, stingy hats that are "cooler".

Kevin McAndrew "Pakable". Size 7-1/4. Heathered fur felt with a 1-7/8" brim and 4-3/4" crown. Being "Pakable" it is very malleable -- almost creases too easily as any touch will have an effect. Not sure where to date this one. Fagman, Inc. (and Jack Fagman) show up "out there" from 1928 to 1956. There are a couple of trademarks from 1956 for Fagman, Inc. so I assume that they go on for a few years anyway. I am finding that Byer-Rolnick (the maker) did trademark "Pakable" in 1958 and "Kevin McAndrew" in 1961. So ... early '60s? (Edit: "Kevin McAndrew" was first used in '49, so ... being your typical eBay seller ... I will call this one late 1950s).

A have a few boxes too, but they are stuck at the "hub" (otherwise known as my daughter's house). "Bug" (the failed-Chihuahua-foster) is guarding them in the meantime.

Robert did a wonderful clean-up job plus a nice soft sweatband refit due to the original being dry as toast.

Will play around with this one, but right now it looks good brim up.

Looks fantastic. Looks like the brim binding matches the bottom part of the two tone ribbon.

I think late 50s would not be an unreasonable estimation. Cool hat… nice heather felt. Trying to think was it the BirdDog and/or Foxhound had this styling with the heather felt and feathered “ribbon”

I’ll get a full refund, including shipping and taxes, but it’s a shame to see even a more recent hat end it’s days like this. Who crams a damp hat into a plastic bag then forces it into a shoe box before shipping across country?


UPDATE:
The seller gave an immediate refund. She said it had a slight smell so she washed it before shipping it. What can you do?
