Stetson Whippet - Light Brown
Milk Chocolate Felt
5 1/2 Open Crown - 4 3/4 as shaped
1 3/4 Dark Brown Grosgrain Ribbon
2 1/2 Brim with Contrasting 3/8 Binding
tweak out some wrinkles here and there. But that’s for another day. Thanks again Bob for the heads up.
Wow! I'm going to have to start considering some of the more distressed looking hats I see online and become a resurrectionist.

Two new hats in two days. This Dobbs Homburg from Brent @deadlyhandsome arrived today. The fit is perfect. The colour is a very dark navy blue with purple ribbon and binding. I can’t wait to see how it looks in natural light.

Absolutely beautiful hat! Looks great on you. I love this color combo. I have a few now that are black with that sort of black cherry binding. I’d love to see this one in the sun to see if you can capture more of the blue.

Thanks Joe. It really is a dark dark blue. So much so that Brent wasn’t entirely sure if it was blue or black when I first asked him. The difference is clearer when placed next to a black hat, though.

I’m also looking forward to seeing it in the sunlight.

What a fantastic hat, love the colors. I can’t wait to see some sunny day pictures too. It looks right at home on you as well. Great get.

I’m glad it arrived safely and that it fits, Gary. I love homburgs and you wear them well. You’re well on your way to a serious case of HAS. :)

This is a Stetson St. Regis that was languishing on EBay. I’d always been curious about converting a homburg to a fedora. A super talented friend of mine took this on and it turned out beautifully. It really has a Whippet feel and the dimensions are perfect—5 1/2 open crown and 2 1/2 brim. This one is going to get a ton of head time—it’s super comfortable and because it’s a conversion I feel less precious about it than I would a vintage whippet.

Enjoy the weekend!

Your friend did a super job, David. I agree with Gary too about the colour contrasts. A stand out hat all round, I'd say.

David… your super talented friend did a fabulous job! I got the exact same vibe. Who woulda think a St Regis is essentially a whippet with a brim curl.

Some will blanch anytime a vintage hat is modified, but this conversion came out so well I don’t think anyone can complain.

Getting the brim of a homburg to flange right as a fedora isn’t always easy. Many homburgs also have the wider brim binding on the underside of the brim so it’s visible when the brim is curled…did your friend remove and re-sew the binding?

Thanks fellas -- Brent, yes, he removed the original binding and added this one. He did an amazing job on the stitching, it looks perfect.

I have to admit that I did close my eyes and thought oh, no, when reading it had been changed from a Homburg to a Fedora. Then I saw the photos.

You're right, Brent. David's friend has done an excellent job. Plus, how many hat collectors can say they have a Stetson St. Regis Fedora? :)
