Gannon in gunmetal gray:
I was thinking…. Someone put their cigarette out in this guys hat.Speaking of real distressing ... I wonder what the story is behind the fire inside of this O.P.S. era (1953) Stetson Open Road. Another recent arrival that does fit me.

Looks like he tried recreating the opening credits scene from Bonanza.Speaking of real distressing ... I wonder what the story is behind the fire inside of this O.P.S. era (1953) Stetson Open Road. Another recent arrival that does fit me.

What happens when you try to use a trademarked matchstick in your hat band.Man, we're like a dog with a bone on this liner tip, LOL.
That is a triumph, Brent. Beautiful hat!
Looks like your problem turned around Joe! Fantastic!! Don’t let the cream sit out too long.View attachment 414643
Stetson Whippet - Light Brown
Milk Chocolate Felt
5 1/2 Open Crown - 4 3/4 as shaped
1 3/4 Dark Brown Grosgrain Ribbon
2 1/2 Brim with Contrasting 3/8 Binding
Thanks to a tip from @BobHufford , I picked up this brown Whippet. Because it was a dirty frumpled mess, I managed to get it for a great price… although I squeaked by within 40 cents of my bid. From the seller photos.. I knew it was rather dusty and because so I wasn’t sure what the true coloring would be. After a heavy heavy brushing releasing all that dust, this one turned out to be a lighter milk chocolate tone. Different from I think any other browns I have. I figured this one was going to need a lot of steam to get into a decent shape.. though try as I may to get around to that today… I did not. Turned out though after the brushing and sitting in the sun for a bit it managed to shape very nicely. I think will need a bit of steam to tweak out some wrinkles here and there. But that’s for another day. Thanks again Bob for the heads up.

Thanks man.Fantastic find Joe!
Nice addition Gary. Glad it finally arrived… and in tact. Looking forward to the on head.. and food picsJoy today as my new Tirard arrived from Stefan @steur. It was quite a while coming and it appears to have been a rough journey.

It arrived with something resembling a diamond crown rather than the centre dent that Stefan’s photos showed. No damage, though and the felt remembered the centre dent well.

Unlike any of my other hats, the bow is at the back and the size tag at the front. View attachment 414722
This is my first ragondia (nutria) felt and very nice it is, too. View attachment 414723
It is a very small size 60. Any smaller and it wouldn’t fit my size 59 head.
Wearing it out for dinner tonight, so head shots coming later in the WHAYWT thread.
Phew! Glad to see it finally made it, Gary. Looks like someone kicked that box hard. The felt shouldn't have a problem to accept any crease you want to put in there. Looking forward to the head shots.Joy today as my new Tirard arrived from Stefan @steur. It was quite a while coming and it appears to have been a rough journey.
