I’m a sucker for a Stetson Playboy. This is my third and by far the best. The color is a beautiful deep gray and the felt is much softer than the other two—easy to put in a diamond crease with just your fingers. It is also in wonderful condition and my first with a lining. The 2 1/4 brim has a nice casual look though I still hope to find an older model with a wider brim. This one will get a lot of head time.

Indeed, a great classic. The Playboy still eludes me.

Panizza Marca Oro, the 2nd of three hats I recently bought from Daniele @Daniele Tanto.

We're all agreed that Panizzas can be hit and miss. This one is definitely a big hit. Panizza on top of their game.

Wonderful hand to the clay like felt. It's natural colour is brown as can be seen in the photos. However, depending on the light, it also has wonderful hues of green and yellow. Panizza called the colour Edelweiss, obviously not after the petals, but the colour of the middle of the flower.

Interesting ribbon and bow treatment in the same felt as the hat.

The stitched brim is 6cm in length and the crown height, at the front crease, is 10.5cm.

Apparently, Marca Oro is an unusual designation for Panizza. So, all in all, a unique hat. Glad I bagged this one before other FL'ers did.

Most excellent, Steve! I usually don't go for felt ribbons myself but the quality on this one seems on a different league. I have a feeling that the third one will be a dynamite ;)

Thanks Panos. I'm not that big a fan of felt ribbons either, but it is just so right on this one. It's the second top notch Panizza I purchased recently. I wonder from whom I got the first one ;-)

I failed to post these when they came a couple of weeks ago.

Three hat lot that I bought mainly to get the Akubra, but I like the Dobbs quite a bit, and the Bond is a really good quality hat.

That is sweet Steve. Cool design with the scalloped self felted band.

Today I introduce you to the Borsalino range sold in Italy in the 60s and 70s.
None of the hats presented and made in Alessandria have a glued lining, they are all with a sewn lining, therefore they are still in the era of classic production. They are children of their time.

Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore size 4 1/2 or 56 cm or 6 7/8 in the USA. The color of the felt, of medium-fine consistency and soft to be able to shape it with your hands, is "Noce-Walnut".
View attachment 377440 The ribbon and the hem of the brims are in a slight contrast in color, compared to the felt. Classic with autumn colors.
View attachment 377441
These are the measures: the edged brims are at 5 cm, the crown at its lowest point is at 10 cm. and the ribbon, of the same color as the one that borders the wings, is 3 centimeters.
View attachment 377442
Borsalino Qualità Superiore size 5 or 57 centimeters in the USA becomes a 7. The color of the felt is not specified on the paper label. It is a color that I don't have in my collection. The felt is medium, consistent in the crown, less in the brims.
View attachment 377443 Classic shape in those years with the elegant hem of the brims in contrast with the felt and even more the ribbon with the bow.
View attachment 377444 These are the measures: Tense, edged, at 5 cm., Contrasting ribbon at 3 cm. and the crown at the lowest point is 10 cm.
View attachment 377445
Sold in my city in Piazza Erbe, the ancient Roman forum is probably the oldest of the three.
Borsalino without denomination of quality, the size is 5 or 57 centimeters in the US it becomes a 7.
View attachment 377446
The felt is soft and very malleable with an overall profiled shape. Color is one of the Borsalino grays and find out which one is a small business.
View attachment 377447
Very classic it has the following measures: brims, sewn with two seams above 5.5 cm., the lowest point crown is 10 cm and the light contrasting ribbon is 3 cm.
They are all three for sale at very fair prices. You ask, I will answer :)
Some nice examples of the Borsalino production, Daniele. I like the second one best for the colours and contrasts.

My 8 dollar (including shipping) black Panizza came in. This one is really beautiful and soft. Brim at 7cm, crown at 10-11 cm. Fits like a glove, no size inside of the hat, so the seller measured it, and it was a good shot. :)
Don't look at my ikea outfit please :)

For those kind of prices you can never go wrong. Nice catch, Marcel.

One of Stetson's most attractive hats, I think. Congrats.

Because i wasn't satisfied with my Hufvud Bogart, i asked Fleur of Penumbra hats to reblock my hat and so she did and this is what she send me on email. A new teardropstyle which i like already.Only the lining has to replace and it is finished. I am already satisfied with the result even when i didn't wear it on my head :)

Wait, what? Does this mean she's working on your hats instead of mine? Can't have that of course! Need to have a word with her about that.:)

Certainly unique. When Panizza got it right they produced stellar hats. Glad you bagged that one, Steve.

New to the Borsalino family (as we know it).
Borsalino Farotto in the colour Malva, which means "mauve". It doesn't look mauve to my eye. Overwelt brim with a partial spiral stitch at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. I call it a spiral stitch, but it's not really a spiral but separate closed ovals, which stop hafway down the brim from the edge.
The model name Farotto is a new one. The name actually means something: it's a dish similar to risotto, but made with "farro" (spelled grain). Both model name and the size are written on the label. What is missing on the label is the number that we always find in the upper left corner. First time I've seen that. The hat has a bit of a womens' hat styling about it, with the light coloured ribbon. The flange on it when it arrived was quite extreme with a sharp upturned brim at the back, wrapping around the crown. Still needs a bit of work, but it's wearable already. I'm thinking forties on this one. Weighs 113 grams.
