Again, I don’t have this in hand, but this thread needs to be aired out.

Okay, I don’t have it in hand yet, but here’s a new hat that I just bought:

Lest we forget the purpose of this thread. :)

Niiice.

Nice thread re-rail, Brent. I'm curious how many grams the westlite ends up being. Please let us know once in hand.

I've never weighed mine, and never thought of it as espaecially light. I'll have to put it on the scale.

Just scored a new Akubra Hampton in cruiser grey, I fully blame the forum for enabling this purchase lol.
Was another forum member after one, I had seen one in my passing a week or two before. After finding where it was for them and seeing it in the custom colour in stock somewhere ready to ship I had to have myself one lol.
Akubra's Hampton quickly became my second favorite Akubra (behind the Fed IV). I want to get two more, but the colors (Graphite Grey and Federation Navy) appear to only be available through specific Australian vendors and none of them are shipping internationally (to the U.S.) until this whole COVID-19 thing calms down. :(

This thread went seriously "off the rails".

Some of you may notice that one or several of your posts were deleted. That is the most work I've had do to Bartending here in a while. I do not thank you for the rude comments and so on amongst "some" of you.

This thread is "Post New Hats". If you don't understand that simple forum "title" it is supposed to be where you "show and tell" your latest, nice new hat.

It is NOT the place to BUY SELL or CRITICIZE.

This thread has been active for 16 years... and will now be returned to UNLOCKED status.

As a warning to those who may notice your posts "missing" if you continue with personal attacks or otherwise disagreeable posting, rude or otherwise, the next thing I will do is to remove you from the Lounge. Please be respectful at all times, and if you can't there are plenty of trash forums you might enjoy out there on the WWW.

16 years! Amazing. Imagine my shock today when I wanted to post a new hat and the thread was clsoed...as in "clo-zed"!:confused: I was emotionally damaged for sure.

I now have a new one to post! And likely because the seller made the grievous error of sending me the wrong hat....I'll buy two more because the price is so good on a decent hat. Not a great hat mind you but a decent one for the price. Happy to share the info if anyone wants it send me a PM. Day 2 on this one. Still trying to sweat this one into my XL long, long oval head shape without my eyes popping out of my head! So far, soooo good.

View attachment 263828 Got my first Portis a week ago.
Says Lite Wate on the cool, scenic liner, but Tissue weight on the sweat. A lil weird.
Also on the sweat, “The New Slant”.
Don’t know what that means, though I have seen several of these, but in different styles.
I liked this hat a lot, but it suffered from too much crown taper. I reblocked it solving that problem. View attachment 263833 View attachment 263832 View attachment 263834 View attachment 263830 View attachment 263831

That’s a great looking hat in a wonderful color. Well done my friend!

A very generous @Randall Renshaw agreed to make a trade with me and I ended up with this:

I only hope out horse trading was fair for Randall. He’s generous to a fault and I had to throw in a second hat to assuage my conscience.

I will say that while I’m not looking to take the crown from @Joao Encarnado or @Yahoody , I’ve found that these more modest sized hats look a lot better on my hat rack than on my head. I’m giving it some time, but this hat might be looking for a new home as it just feels small on me; not the 7 5/8 which is true-to-size, but just the whole hat.

Thanks again, Randall!

I have almost the same hat as this. It is my fave Borsa. I call it my Borsa western as I gave it more western bash.

Heinrich Balke Bremen "Prima Weser Hut", 58 cm, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 3 inches, possibly late 1920s. This a Wool Soft Felt Hat with Back Bow and luckily the Crown Tip Patch is still present. I really like finding old Wool Soft Felts and I waited a long time for this one to arrive because of shipping issues.

Heinrich Balke Bremen was a hat whole seller but I wasn't able to find anything regarding production facilities. Weser is a river that flows into Bremen and "Weser Hut" is trademarked. I have a very unique Heinrich Balke Bremen Wool Stiff Felt "Prima Weser Hut" with a Mirror inset into the liner logo.
