Bowen says that, since the numbers on the inside of the sweatband and the tag match, it's a real OR. Hoopdeedoo!

The hat I ordered from Michael Gannon has arrived, and it is a beauty, perfect fit and just as expected.

I couldn’t help it. It called to me like the One ring...

And I couldn’t be happier with it. My irresponsibility is being tempered by selling a good couple of hands full of other hats and pipes in my collection, and I think it’s well worth it.

I’m hoping this will satisfy my decade(s) long itch for the Russell Crowe 3:10 hat and the Depp Dead Man hat, combined, with enough difference to spin it my own (Greeley’s own) direction.

“Buckskin” basically sand colored pure western weight beaver. 2 1/4” brim. From the shelves of Greeley Hat Works:

Picked this old boater up today while out at a fleamarket in England. It's seen better days, but for £5 I couldn't say no. Needs a clean up and a new ribbon. Anyone know where I can buy a vintage ribbon?
I think there's some age to this one. 1920s if not before. I'm trying to do some research on M. Macintosh of Birmingham. No luck so far.

Straw Boaters are one of the hat styles I don't care for much;

Thanks Georg. Boaters are not to everyone's taste, but being English I just couldn't resist this one [emoji4]. Not sure it will ever get worn outside the house. It's a welcome addition to the collection though.

Looks similar to the Highwayman when I sub a 13/16" ribbon instead of the OR style. And the Highwayman has a bound edge. I have this black one on the way for delivery later this wk.
