Looks similar to the Highwayman when I sub a 13/16" ribbon instead of the OR style. And the Highwayman has a bound edge. I have this black one on the way for delivery later this wk.

That one looks pretty fantastic, HJ. You’ve really got me looking out for anything similar. I think that flange is what I’ve been searching for but never knew it until I first saw yours. Looking forward to seeing more of that once it arrives.

Just a couple of quick and dirty pics of my newly unboxed Texas Hatters Hi Roller in dark blue. I did not expect this to fit, but it does! There is no hat band as it was just some chicken pluckings strung together.

I found a similar style by resistol in an antique shop over the weekend, and thought of yours immediately, but alas did not purchase, as it was 3 sizes too big. Still incomparable to a Texas Hatters though.

I am in a hat-saturated mode now in my off-season (haturated?).

So I have this one now, because it is dangerously close to my holy grail hat. The only differences are the color scheme, the width of the ribbon, and the fact that this one did not belong to my grandfather, whom I never saw after i was one year old.

Stetson 3X Beaver, mode edge. My grandfather ‘s was sage, with a purplish- rust colored ribbon. This one is a powder blue with a mid ribbon, very difficult to get the blues in the photo. Pun intended! Hope the blue hue comes across.

Wegener "Extra", 58 cm, possibly later 1940s early 1950s. I tend to think this one is older because of components. The felt is great and easily dry creases. There are some issues due to wear but nothing too bad.
