Great capture BB! What a great OR to add to a great collection of OR's. At one time I had a Stetson 3X fedora of that very same brown/moss Green color. It was tagged as Olive Green. I used to wonder how anyone could think of it as Olive green, then one day it came to me that any of the colors in the range below could be called Olive green, because at some point in the life cycle of an Olive they are.Any insight as to the color is appreciated.

Freakin gorgeous!I always have a BOLO out for vintage OR's, especially those in my size and and in an unusual color. Though not the black I long for, here is a kinda brown/moss green sorta undertone Royal Stetson, my first. 2 5/8 x 5 1/2. Any insight as to the color is appreciated.

Lincoln Bennett & Co
The envelopes inside the box. These and other evidence in the hat and on the box have helped me find out about it's previous owner and date of the hat, which is somewhere between 1907-1919.

This Lincoln Bennett & Co silk topper was owned by a Danish doctor. He was born in Shanghai in 1873, studied at Copenhagen University, where he graduated in 1900, then worked at the major hospital in Copenhagen.
In 1907, he became the first professor of pathology at Oxford Uni. He specialised in vaccines. He was awarded the CBE after WW1 for his contribution to helping aviators be able to breath properly during flights. Aviation was a whole new ball game back then.
The stickers on the box tell that he sailed to America on the SS Adriatic. This must have been in 1919 when the envelopes are dated. Probably to a conference, or a meet up with colleagues.
The hat must have been bought somewhere between 1907 and 1919.

Probably the only time I'll wear it, but here you get to see it on. It's semi stove-pipe size [emoji4]

Funny thing with colour of a hat. Depends what light you photo it in according to the shades of the hat. That is one super grey Stetson with green undertones. That's my take on it. Basically, it's a super hat. Congrats.

Great find, Steve. I do come across Peschel hats now and again, but always the later ones (still good quality though).Anton Peschel Neutitschein, 57 cm, 140 grams, possibly later 1920s. This is the only (and one other on FL) complete branded APN Stiff or Soft Felt Hat I have so a very rare find. The felt is very similar to JHS Stiff Felts but that makes sense because they were very close neighbors. I really like the dimensions + form and it actually fits so that is an added bonus.

The silk top hat. It's a tall one at 15cm.

Wow, Steve! There's provenace and there's provenance. It doesn't get much better than this. What a find. This Lincoln Bennett & Co silk topper was owned by a Danish doctor. Didn't even know that thread existed! Nice find, Georg.German Stetson (Mayser) Royal "Jasper Steam". I guess Jasper is the model and steam the color. I would say 70's.
Soft and maluable felt with bonded edge. One of my (many) favorites.
I posted more details in this older thread I'd like to revive:

Thank you, Stefan. Ja, this one is one of those hats one dreams about. Even though it's not going to get that much head time, it's still the jewel in the crown of my collection.Wow, Steve! There's provenace and there's provenance. It doesn't get much better than this. What a find.

How does the old Bailey, which had an umbrella over a few small manufacturing operations in Texas, connect with Bailey of Hollywood?I think we all would have been surprised to hear you say the Bailey was the better of them. Still, I think Bailey made some decent hats back in the day.
