Another Zephyr Weight, also from Justin. Thanks, Justin!
I think I am getting the hang of this steam ironing thing. This one was also badly crushed.

Stetson Casual. It was badly wrinkled, and the felt is so very soft and pliant I thought I probably would have to send it to Ignacio.
Before pics are at the bottom.
I am proud at how I fixed it all by myself. [emoji5]

I worked at the Bon Marche' distribution center right out of high school, 1978. It was located in... Tukwila, Washington.

Busy day. I just finished this other hat with a Justin provenance. Some pics are his. There is a lot of difference in the color between his and mine.
Besides steaming, ironing, and rebashing, I also tried my hand at sewing a stitch on the bow.
I asked my wife to do it, and she said "I can't see well anymore, even with glasses. Just pretend it's a suture on a patient". Actually, it is a lot easier.

Beverly Hats Alwyn Supreme Quality. It took me a lot of work, but it looks almost new now.

I liked this one so much, I just bought another of Justin's, his Manleigh, on eBay. I have noticed that if I put a 7 1/8 hat not on my custom wooden band blocks, but on the plaster cast I made of my head in my office, and every day force them downwards a little, they fit well after a week, without ill effects. [emoji5]
Pics of the Manleigh on the eBay thread.

I just love this Black Sheep Hat Works I bought from a Lounger.
I don't think I would have ever bought it directly, because of the waiting time.

I really like the "crushed" pug ribbon, the liner, the shape, and the feel of the shiny Melusine longhair.
I also like that the joint of the pug is on the back.
I don't usually like pugs, because they seem sort of an improvised ribbon, but this one is nice.

Churchill 100.

A liiitle tight on the forehead, but should be fine once it spends some time on the plaster cast of my head. This one's too precious for a regular wooden custom band block.
The last two pics are Alan's.

It's a wonderful parade of hats again, Max. My eye does gets drawn to those heather felts though, like the Eakle ones and the Dobbs. Love those.

I just got back from Ignacio's, with another passel of hats.

Passel... I guess Western hats are starting to influence my choice of words. First time I read it was while reading "Lonesome Dove", though I've never heard it spoken in real life.

Cavanagh Fifty. I like the shape and proportions better than my One Hundred. I will compare the felts of both when I get home tonight.
This one was supposed to be a 7 5/8s, but the stitching on the sweatband was already loose when I bought it from Adrián, aka @Miamibruno, and when I tried it on it fit like a loose 7 3/8. After Ignacio's repair, I only have to pad it with a couple of felt strips. It still hits the top of my ears, but I like my hats a little loose anyway.

Very nice hat Max, of course! You look good with the cattleman's crease in it. A nice change up.
Going out on a limb here in wondering if this Resistol One Hundred isn’t as nice, if not nicer than the Stetson One Hundreds of similar age in terms of felt, it’s finish and detailing? What vintage do you think this one is?
Thoughts??

I am finally home after a very long day, B, and I am really tired, but I can tell you that both the Stetson 100s definitely have better felts than the Resistol 100.

I took this pic, trying to decide which are the better felts, but I decided I'd better finish this over the weekend. Can't buy more hats if I don't work, can't work if I don't rest.

In this small group, very preliminarily, I have, in increasing order of quality, a MacLachlan, a Cav 50, my second Stetson 100, my first Stetson 100, a Cav 100, a Knox 100 that is tied with the Dobbs 100 I just bought, and the best is the Dobbs 100 with the wider brim I bought before this recent one.

The difference is minuscule between one and the next the farther you move to the right, but is noticeable if you compare the first to the last.

The Resistol 100 would be between the Cav 50 and the Mac.

Would these hats all make it into your top ten, Max? Is it all about being a 100 and the felt or is there more to it than that, like shape, colour, fit, finishing or even sentiment?
