I used to think time machine but now I’m leaning towards witchcraft! Killer hat, Justin.

Outstanding as always Justin!
This non-Stetson Boss Raw Edge type hat has me wondering about what other brands of Boss Clones are out there??
I have a Mystery black, now this stellar hat and it seems i remember others.
Evidently around the first 3 decades of the 1900s that was a popular design.
Makes me wonder???
Stellar specimen Justin!

True, true. How far back can your time machine go, Justin? I'd like to buy Doc Holiday's hat. A colleague.

Did John Henry "Doc" Holliday wear a hat? I assume he did, like most men of his era, but I've never seen an actual photo of him wearing one.

That's interesting, Al. Most of us visualize these folks as the actors that portrayed them and the costumes they wore. The only photos I've seen of "him" wearing a hat are not verified and most of what I've read discount those pics.

When he was a "townie" first practicing dentistry in GA he wore a derby. After he came West he adapted to a bigger brim with rounded open crown, something similar to a Boss of the Plains.

Holy moly, that is a HAT! May I see a picture of you wearing it?? Where did you get it, if you please?
He got it from Optimo Chicago.

I am an Optimo fan myself.

Beatiful hats, but you can buy two or three excellent (I mean reaaallly excellent) vintages for the price of an Optimo, and the felt in the great vintage hats is often even better than the felt in Optimos.

Look at me, writing that. Just a few months ago I was asking that question.

Thanks for the heads up.... I followed that link, and clicked on the first nice looking hat I saw, it was $1,000... clicked on a few more to make sure it was not a typo. Not a single hat I saw was less than $795. Suffice to say, that's definitely not going to happen!! Thanks again, anyway, for the tips...

Wow! 795, huh? The prices have gone up again. They were 750 and 1000 just a few months ago.

Hahahaha. That was an unbelievable fluke, Bob!
I did buy a 12-year old Optimo for $220 once, but it was short-brimmed and obviously not 100% beaver yet.
There are a couple on ebay now. One is overpriced, the other a 300-dollar reserve Optimo Homburg.

If you’re looking for an absolute steal on a custom beaver hat, check out the Phoenix Hat Company thread. Great hats made to your specifications at an astonishingly low price. Inexpensive, but NOT cheap.
