For the first time ever, my local “antiques mall” turned up a hat in my size. No mothing or stains and a supple sweat and in one of my favorite factory western creases:

A little ironing and shaping and it will be ready to go.

The price was indeed very nice, which isn’t always the case with hats in antique stores.
It’s in pristine condition so definitely not a beater. Resistol 4X hats of this era are nicer by far than current Stetson 7X hats that sell for over $200 (my opinion only). I’ll most likely keep it as is until I get inspired.

I've been looking for sometime for a Stetson (real) panama in an Or style. Just right with a 5 1/2" OC and a 2 3/4"brim. Embarrassed to say so but I finally found one when I opened up one of my generic hat boxes to mail a hat. There it sat. It's either early on-set alzheimer's or hat amnesia. I think it's the latter. I gotta sell more hats.
That's funny! Pretty cool hat. It looks well made.

See? They are out there; you just need to find them, Brent. Good score.

Came in a couple of days ago. Had to have this because I missed out on a similar Dunn&Co shortly before this one.
Tress&Co velour, or Coypu Finish (whatever you want to call it) in grey, Size 56, with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11cm at the pinch. Because it came with the date stamped original box I can say it's from 1950. Nice hand and soft felt, esprecially one the crown, which did not want to sit and stay shaped in my usual picture set-up.
Coypu means nutria of course, but it's hard to tell if the felt is actually nutria.
