...As an early birthday present to myself I just bought an OR felt. I have a feeling I've started an addiction. Glad to know I'm not the only one here. [emoji6]
Hat addiction? Nope, you won't find anything like that here.

Received a care package from Volendam today. I'll be posting in various threads tomorrow when I get proper photos. Had to share this new English Bowler made by C.S. Royale & Co., London and Stockport. Stefan dates it to the 1930s. Sweat construction tends to prove this out. Light as a feather with a tight brim curl. The front of the brim binding is a little tattered, probably from tipping this bowler to the ladies :) More detail in later.

My new Optimo Classic Fedora arrived today, along with a 55 cm. Optimo Milan Graham Thompson made for my wife, Ana.

Three weeks ago I asked Tiffani if by any chance they had a 55 cm. Milan for my wife. I know supplies of Milan straw are very limited, so I wasn't surprised when she said they didn't, but I had to ask.
She emailed me the next day, saying Graham himself was making a Milan for Ana. I was very pleased, and asked her to charge my card for it right away. She said she didn't know how long it would take to make it, so she would wait it until it was finished to Graham's satisfaction.
Then, yesterday, I got an email saying Ana's Milan was in the box with my Panama, and it was free of charge.

I already was a fan of Graham's, Tiffani's, and Optimo. Now I am a huge one.
Both hats are beautiful, IMHO.

The girl wearing my panama is my daughter, Maralisa.

I googled "care package" and "Volendam," and now I know what you mean.
Volendam is sooo beautiful! I imagine Stefan lives there? How lucky, if he does.
I have felt an affinity for Holland since I had a Dutch girlfriend in my youth. The affinity persisted even after the Netherlands (unfairly?) beat Mexico in the last World Cup.

I had posted about some of these in the hats on the way thread, but they arrived so here they and other new hats are in the wild.

From bottom to top in group pic (edit: I think I got that pic set right now):

Biltmore Imperial Homburg (Canada) - Mustard
Biltmore Royal “Florence” (Canada) - Walnut
Biltmore Imperial “Chicago” (US) - Coffee
Bilmore Royal fur felt (Canada) - Black Oak
Biltmore Royal fur felt (Canada) - Ancient Bronze
Great! Which one's your favorite? I like the Mustard.

The "Florence" hat so far is tops. That one fits best and I think looks best on me (after I adjusted the brim curve to a flatter one with a slightly "straighter" turn up that I prefer). It has a 2 1/8" brim which seems to suit me best. The fedoras in Ancient Bronze and Black Oak are 2 1/2, and that's about the limit of brim size for me. The Homburg is 2 5/8 but for such a style that length is needed.

I'm still getting used to the Homburg in mustard . . . not my usual style. That and the Chicago are fairly dressy, and I don't get dressed up much anymore, so their use is likely to be more limited.

But they were both discounted (well, all of them were on some sale or another), and I often find it hard to pass up a good deal on a nice hat.

I'm showing my age with the term "Care Package". CARE was an organization of disaster relief in the 1960s.

Been kind of out of touch for a couple of days. The wife has a broken arm and is kind of helpless. She took a fall at the wedding last weekend, and I finally forced her to go to urgent care on Thursday. Yes, two breaks in her radius at the wrist. Bummer due to us leaving for a week long cruise next Friday. So... catching up on the Holland Connection shipment that arrived mid week.

I did sneak this one in on WHAYWT the other day, but better detail shots are forthcoming. I needed a true English Bowler for my Stiff Felt Stable. Stefan found this C.S, Royle & Co., London and Stockport 1930s example. Very light weight, high quality construction. The brim binding is a little tattered where one would tip your hat to the ladies. I kind of like this little bit of patina.
