ITA, that's a new one. Have not seen this brand lately. Looking forward to Steve's history lesson. Very nice color and finish. Nice hat. Originally high or low end product?

Having the chance to see this one in person before shipping to Holland, I concur. What a wonderful finish and fantastic gills. This is really a nice hat. Wish it fit me (I tried it on admittedly...), but you look great in it Stefan.
Thanks, Mike. ITA hats don't show up that often; quite a rare beast. ITA hats are high end originally; they were suppliers to the Austrian Imperial court.

Another new hat for me, for which I thank Mike (Redfokker), who found this one for me. Resistol Harvard beaver twenty backbow in black (that's a mouthful). Size 56, mode edge brim at 6cm and crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. I'm no expert on American made hats, but this is a high quality product and the hat has presence! Nice sturdy (but not stiff) felt with a lovely soft hand. Great wide ribbon and backbow. One of the best black hats I have. Sold by Hastings California.

Wonderful images. This one was a real find, loved the felt and back bow. It needed to be in your stable.

Barbisio deserves far more credit than it gets because their hats are very high quality and the variety is stunning. Here is a new one that I added to the collection. Barbisio Titan in chamois finish. Colour is called Terranova and the designation on the liner is Qualitá Superlativa. Sounds about right to me. Raw edge brim at 6,5cm and crown at 10cm at the pinch. The hand of this felt is nothing short of incredible. Very lovely shark gill bow (comparable to the one Bowen posted before).

Great hat... and, from the one example in my collection, I concur on the quality of Barbisio Titan felt.

The ribbon seems to be a match to the brim binding and the wind trolley. I thought the pin was interesting because it is only about 1/8" tall. I've seen others that were about 1/4 on newer hats but I haven't seen one this small before. The hat could be from the early 60s but the manufacturer's label is 50s to me.

Good info. I have two 7XCB hats remaining with the same sweatband and liner imprints as your hat but both have lost their manufacturing tags during a cleaning/rennovation in their past. I'm not sure when this last version of the red Stetson tag ended - somewhere in the late 1950s/early 1960s I imagine.

Greetings Steur et al:
I could not agree with you more on all points with these hats. Your’s is stupendous and i know a pleasure to wear. The Terranova twin to mine. I love the way they do their gills, and nine of them!!
As far as quality. I don’t think it can get much better. The Chamois felt is to love and equal in every way to my best Borsa Marque Grand Luxe 5X. A very underrated hat indeed. You just want to sit and pet them.
Thanks for sharing yours. Enjoy!!
Be well. Bowen

I took the new-to-me Resistol 3X out in it’s maiden run on my last day of CDL training.

I didn’t realize when I bought it that this hat was going to be so diminutive - the crown is less than 5 1/2 inches and the brim is 2 1/4 - much smaller than I typically prefer.

However the felt is very nice and the inside is super clean and my head stayed warm and dry so I’ll keep him handy for future rainy days.

I learned my lesson, though, to always ask about brim sizes if they aren’t posted...

The hat does need a good steam bath to iron out some wrinkles, but that will have to wait another week until I get home.

The FL is slowly giving me a hat education. I had no idea such beautiful and varied vintage hats existed before joining.
This one I particularly like.

I can maybe add something to this. I have a thin ribbon Open Road version, same sweat, liner. It is fairly unworn. Your’s peaked my interest so i turned out the band for pics. Also, a pic of your 1/8” pin that came on a straw. I would suggest your’s to be older than this 7x. Hope this helps.
Be well. Bowen

Bowen, thanks. It looks like the date on yours is October 10, 1962, it that what you read? Any idea of the vintage of the straw.
On the other hand, as subjective as dating hats is, your hat may be older than mine even though yours clearly has the 60s style manufacturer's tag and mine has the 50s style tag. While I would like the hat to be from the 50s, the sun will rise tomorrow regardless of any hat's age.

Hey Richard:
1962 was my best geuss as well. I didn’t want to bias other’s interpretation. Interesting to me is that this is the first hat i’ve had with a date stamp.
The pin came on the straw but hard to say if original. The size tag is rectangular and sweat looks 60-70s to me. Not sure.
With out question you have a fine 7x and i really like the wider ribbon treatment. Different is always nice.
Be well. Bowen
