Churchill Beaver 50 Rancher. 3" brim w/cattleman crease. Nice felt on this one with a finish really close to my 100's. Cowboy stiff brim but the crown is soft and pliable. Dense, thin felt with a great hand. Great 2" sweat and not the black liner or sweat as in my other Churchill's.

CONGRATULATIONS, Greg!! Somebody took excellent care of that hat for you!

Wear it in the BEST of health.

Thanks, fellas. Charle, you're right about it being taken care of. Appears to have been worn very little.

Dd, right down our alley as far as dimensions are concerned. Trying to decide whether or not the cattleman will stay, but knowing me and my preferences, it probably will.

Just in today... needs cleaning and re-shaping, but I’m over-the-moon since it was a bit of a crappy-pic gamble purchase. View attachment 113429 View attachment 113427 View attachment 113426
By the way, how does one clean and re-shape? (asking for a friend)
Greetings Tele et al:
Wow, how’d i miss this beauty! I love this hat! And a Premier as well. What a wonderful and unusual color. It sure does look like a Playboy to my eye whether it says or not. Super snag Tele. A wonderful hat. Thanks for sharing.
Be well. Bowen

This old Beaver Brand black western arrived today. It’s as stiff as I expected, but it has a great hand. “5X Genuine Fur Felt.” The markings on the sweat are almost completely rubbed off but the leather is soft and supple. The liner is a bit stained, but overall it’s in great shape. I don’t know what I’m doing with it....

Hey Brent:
Now if you can turn this one into one of your “Big Boy” fedoras like the one you posted in whaywt today, then i will be more than impressed. I’ll be inspired. Those be some big diameter fedoras you’ve been sporting. Good go.
Be well. Bowen

Challenge accepted! I’m not a big fan of black hats but stay tuned.

Greetings Bama et al:
Been excited looking forward to seeing this one. Wow really really nice. Pristine, love everything about it. Those Churchill 50s and 100s are some hard hats to find. I know Alan has a 100. Thin dense felt is the word for sure. Hope to see lots more of this one. Maybe some comparisons with your other 100s etc. super great get. Thanks for sharing.
Be well. Bowen
PS: had to go back and look some more.
Damn that’s a nice hat!!

This Panama was in a lot of ladies' hats that I saw on Goodwill's online auction site. There weren't any detailed pics, and the one of it wasn't very clear, but the description said "Optimo" and it looked like a fine weave so I bid on it. It arrived today. Beautiful hat, but unfortunately damaged. Broken straw in the brim. Don't think it was from the handling by the seller, but a bummer that it didn't show in the pic. Probably would have bid anyway, just to handle an Optimo Panama at a price I can afford.
Here's pics.

Brim 2 1/2", crown 4" in front. 75g. Almost perfect other than that broken straw in the brim. Still gonna wear it!

There must be some kind of law against damaging a piece of art like that! Such a pity that. Still a nice find, John.

My Canadian Stetson arrived today. A brushing, spritz of distilled water, partial blocking on a straight-side dome, some steam, and several different creases and it just wasn’t speaking to me. I tried some western shapes, and while I liked the look I did not like any of them on me. I really gave it a try, but in the end I went where I usually do and made it into an outsized fedora.

6.5” open crown.

Parts of the crown are dark because it hasn’t dried completely. I’m certain this one will be recreased a few times until I find a shape I like more. I might even finish reblocking it to remove more taper.

Nothing under the sweat but I’m convinced that it’s made by Biltmore under contract with Stetson for the Canadian market.

Hey Brent:
I commented on these cause i noticed you were buying a bunch of cowboys and converting to fedoras. Cutting them down or just flattening them out. I said my gosh those are big, then they started growing on me. I have a black Borsa with a 3 3/4 brim that i just don’t have the stones to wear but i’m gettin em. Maybe. Ha How wide it the Black Beaver brim? Might have to name that style “The Brent”. Ha
Be well. Bowen

After the wonderful addition of the Dobbs gamebird I received a few duds, until this one showed up. I had high hopes for this one and it doesn't disappoint. Borsalino fu Lazzaro "Savoy" in Uranio colour. Felted edged brim at 6cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. Incredible felt. Not really old (late sixties is my guess), but the model is older. Enjoy.

Wonderful find. Looks like an exceptional hat.

Thank you, Stefan.

Beautiful Greg. But the big question does Bodie like it? :)

Thanks, Scott. Bodie has never had an issue with one of my hats, with the exception of one I had just given a gas bath and left to dry on a bucket in the back yard. You can use your imagination but it had to go back in the gas that day.

Picked up a Resistol San Antoine on ebay couple weeks ago.

Great hat and one I've craved for some time.
