Hückel Weilheim "Flexible", 58 cm, probably later 1950s. The felt on this one is fantastic with a very nice smooth finish. Unfortunately there was a pinch hole in the felt so I made a flat crown which was actually popular at the time.

The first thing I noticed (and liked a LOT) was that flat crown shape, Steve. Super lid, well-crushed, fantastic style!!

Man it is the nicest felt on a Strat that I have ever handled bar none. And I have wanted a green Strat forever.

I can make most 7 1/8 vintage Stetsons work for me. I haven't given up on it but I haven't figured out how to shrink my noggin quite yet!

BTW - I LOVE that green Borsalino you just picked up! What a unique piece! Very nice my friend.

Aw thank you, that's really sweet The annoying cold turned into flu and an inability to get out of bed, down the stairs and out of the house. Today is the first day I've felt halfway human again and managed to get out, so that's good! I think I need a new hat to celebrate and post here!

One thing I consistently like about these European hats you present is the fine details of finish. The liners and logos, this Huckel emblem at the back of the sweat, and the overall finish are always just beautiful. They are one of this forums great treasures Steve, keep em coming!

Now, as seen it in another thread, in a color I've craved for years (No life, I know...)

The Stetson Satellite, found NEW from the mid-1950s. Handwritten "Satellite" tag, photo left, and the right photo shows the production number on the sweatband with a faint red number on the back of the liner.

First time ever, I am having a hard time bringing myself to shape it. Never had a new vintage lid.

It's always a joy to post in this thread.

Congratulations, Charlie! That's a beaut. I've seen the boxes before, but never the hat. Your hat was originally sold right here in Dayton. I have a Borsalino from the same retailer. Interestingly enough, I had a chance to look through a 1939 Dayton phone directory the other day. After looking for my grandfather's grocery store listing, I turned to hatters and haberdashers to see what was shaking in 1939. I found this:

The Gibbons was originally the Algonquin, and opened in 1898. It was the Gibbons from 1918-1963. It's now the Dayton Grand.
