Joao this new hat is truly magnificent. It looks absolutely unbelievable. I would guess you are the only man in all of Portugal with such a classic.

Portis with "Swansback" sweatband

I've had this Portis for a while just never got around to posting it. I've considered selling it but I like wearing it too much. Nothing fancy, just a good daily wearer. Not sure of the age but I was thinking late 30s or early 40s. Wish I knew what information was on the sticker that use to be on the crown. It has a 2 1/4" brim with an underwelt; 5 1/2" open crown with 1 1/16" grosgrain ribbon and an unreeded sweatband. The sweatband is stamped "Swansback Water Repellent "Cushion" Band." Not sure when Portis introduced the Swansback band but I have see it on other Portis hats.

Maybe. I do know there are people that wear cowboy hats in my country but probably none is a Tom Mix as people here tend to only recognise a cowboy hat by the cattleman crease. :(

Okay, Scott, here goes. Let's see if they stay up for me.

Scott F's 1951 Dobbs Fifty presentation hat:

I find it interesting that they purchased Dobbs hats instead of Stetsons. You'd think that in Phoenix, for western hats they would turn to the western standard.

Not mine, job, just posting some photos from ScottF. It's his hat, but the photos didn't want to stay visible or available.

I don't usually put new acquisitions here, but what the heck.

In fact, this one was a freebie to me, anyway. A neighbor came back from San Juan, Puerto Rico last weekend and said he bought a Panama hat there and decided he didn't like how he looked in it.

He said he paid $40 for it, but gave it to me because he knows I'm a "hat guy."

It is a very soft, pliable straw and is a brisa weave made in Ecuador.

The brim is sort of funny. It is 2-1/2 on the front, a tiny bit shorter on the sides, but only just over 2 inches in the back. They didn't take much care to get the brim consistent, I'll say that much.

Hey, for a freebie, what the heck. I wore it to cut the grass today and think I'll use it when I don't want to muss up a good hat.
