Fits well over a 7 1/8 block or worn as a samurai helmet.

Outstanding find... looks to be very fine and well woven. From the backlit photo, it seems to have the central boxed weave pattern that I associate with a parabuntal.

Two much! Another fine straw Rick.

Thank you, my friends.
My problem is that I wasn't malnourished as a child & my head is TOO *^%# BIG! This is, too, a 7 1/8 at best  ... but I couldn't let it just sit there... ya' know, eh? [huh]

Is there NO way to stretch the body &/or alter the point at which the brim breaks, thereby yielding a larger crown w/ a shorter brim, given the obvious antiquity & high quality?
...didn't think so, :eusa_doh: nuts!

on the other hand...

On the other hand I got this for a pittance & it is quickly becoming a daily beater!
As plain as the side of an old barn, nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, a workin' mans' hat.
A good thirty dolla' hat, IMO.

Rick - nice find. I share the perils of a decent sized head - just think how it helps you avoid the storage problems the 7 and 7 1/8 guys must have ;)

New arrival, and it's a 2 1/4" brim rather than a stingy!

'French Grey' Imperial Quality Christys' - I'm guessing early 50's but any more accurate dating is appreciated.

Just arrived, fresh from the Beaver Brand auction, via eBay...

Since it was in my size -- a size 8! -- and since I didn't have a hat in navy color yet....
