Stetson No.1 Quality late 1920s

This is one of the hats recently auctioned by ScottF - passed along to me by the kind FL member who won it. The sweatband is dry and toasted - I've removed it in preparation for a replacement. I'd hoped to find a clean sweatband LOTXXXX imprint, but alas, it is hard to decipher... 577X is what it looks like. With the round size label and up-crossed bow I would guess this to be from the later 1920s. Felt is pristine and malleable - the dimensions (6 1/4" crown, 3 1/2" brim curled to 3 inches) very wearable.

Thank you Perry. I love these old western hats.

Rusty, thank you for that info. I did see some photos from the lounge member who had bid on this hat for a friend with ties to the store. Good to know how to pronounce it. Wouldn't want to sound like yank. ;^)

Felt is one of the finest I have come across and was a nice surprise, might actually keep this one!

No year on receipt . Seems every hat I get with a receipt never has the yr indicated.
The dpt store closed in 1976 , and was sold to new owner. Bought hat from the original owners relative.

I concur Alan, Tom the Brim measures 2 3/4.
As bashed its a whopping 5" never thought I could wear such a proportional hat as this but due to the fact it's a 1/4 the crown fits just right and not bad in the sweat either.

WOW!!!! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Absolutely gorgeous French Long hair, Robert!!! Every single detail about that hat is simply beautiful. Look at that sweatband! That gold stamp on the sweatband is so incredibly detailed, it almost looks like someone planted a gold coin onto the leather. Nothing today from any manufacture even comes close to these old Long hairs in felt quality and trimming detail.
