Been pretty busy again lately. My mother sold her house and I've been helping her pack up and move. She's having an estate sale this weekend, so I'm working security. :spy:

As I was emptying out drawers and shelves, I came across this great chef's hat! Who knows how long she's had it in there. It's a perfect fit; can't wait to use it!!

Fished a Whippet outa the Bay.
Doggie needs some brim training curled like a Homburg almost.
You guys know i like Brim snapped or flanged up.... But this is toooooo much for the Che flip brim look.

Specs, Brim 2 1/2, Crown open 5 1/4 to 5 3/8'', Bashed front 43/4, rear 4 1/4'' side 5 1/8'' simple center crease & short dart's
232323232%7Ffp5435%3A%3Enu%3D3592%3E4%3A%3B%3E%3A33%3E26834%3A%3B%3B2425%3Aot1lsi

Pics are (FOB) fresh outa box, with a quick brushing

I have too much of a fold when i snap it down & the rear stands & curls too much making the brim look stingy. Its actually 2 1/2'' Which is not too wide.
A tinkle more width would flaten out easy & curl less. but i have to work with 2 1/2''
232323232%7Ffp543%3B9%3Enu%3D8986%3E396%3E25%3A%3EWSNRCG%3D35925835%3C634%3Bnu0mrj

looks better from the front but you can see the sharp fold, i started the snap at the ear but it moves forward on it's own.

Any Whippet pros have a idea of it's vintage, probably a end of era model (newer) huh?

Numbers seem to match the sticker & sweat stamp

Sweat measures 1 7/8 to the bead, nothing special on the leather seams like embossed grain texture

Felt is ok but nothing fantastic,,,well its a Royal Stetson. it is lite but not feather weight but i can wear this felt, Im spoiled from the Borso feathers or older Lite, non lining hats & of course VS Art-Lites,,,
Ill fire up the Jiffy 4000 steamer & use better brushes & try to flatten the brim some Maybe a Towel & a Iron full steam.

Nice one Che, looks like a keeper and I like that particular snap down look. My size too. You sure that fits you? :) Can't tell if the ribbon and brim are black or brown. Judging by the size tag it's a solid 50's hat I'd guess. Show us more after you "whip it" into your shape.

Seabass. I have a knox like that, almost identical to your Whippet. Very heavy brim curl. I couldn't get it lay down even after steaming and ironing it. I wonder if the bound edge helps to keep the curl in. I've been thinking of taking it off and trying it again and see if it makes a difference. Your whippet is still a great hat though, I'd guess one of the later models.

I recently won a Snowy River Akubra hat, possibly an older one, a couple days ago. The hat actually arrived this afternoon, although I don't have any actual pictures of it yet. I will say that it is a shade darker tan (basically the sandtone fawn color) than the pictures up on eBay show, but I'm not disappointed at all with it. The size needs to shrink a little bit, though.

This is my first felt hat purchase in about two years.

I received a new hat during the Hurricane cleanup that I couldn;t post because we had no power from 10/29 until 11/9. I took some pictures of it with its original crease, and then I recreased it today so I'm posting before and after pictures. It's a carbon gray Fed IV, a hat I've been wanting for a long time, and the right one came along.

The way I got it:

I received this hat during the early days of the Hurricane cleanup. I had no power from 10/29 until 11/9 so I'm posting today when I could finally find enough time to recrease, shoot, and post these images.

The hat is a carbon gray Fed IV, a hat I have wanted for a long time. I got it in like-new condition from a fellow lounger, and am very happy with it.

Here it is the way I got it:

The pinch was off-center, so recreasing it would be necessary even if I didn't change the look.

It's the same hat. Time of day makes a big difference with the color. The before photo is closer to the real color, as it was shot with natural light from the bathroom window.
