Ale, this was an eBay sale that was just listed as Royal Stetson.

From the pics, there was something different with the brim ribbon - it rather looked like it might be the elusive Mode Edge. As it happens it is a ribbon but different to my other Whippets. The ribbon is wider underneath the brim and the stitching on top is in the brim, rather than the ribbon.

I'll post photos when I get the chance.

Brothelcreeper-- I love your Dali choices, and did you get to see Jack White live? Beautiful organ, too! foot pump or electric?

Congrats on the squatter-- looks great! Would you consider posting some closeup photos of your tawny Akubra homburg in natural lighting in the Homburg Nation thread?

Thanks, thanks, and no. The last time White Stripes were in Aus (2002 - he actually came up with the riff to 7 Nation Army here) I was too young to have been into them, let alone to go to a show.

The organ is electric, and a tempermental thing at that, from 1979.

Absolutely, I'll get on that a little later and share it with The Nation.

Cheers,
-Daniel

Bodacious weave on that one, Mike. Have you ever tried a boater on, just to check out if you could "do the look"? I haven't, but often wonder about them, especially in election years.
I've never tried one on that fit me well enough to tell.

Another welcome Another One from another Palm Springs one. Frank

Thanks for the welcome, Frank. I hope you have your felt hats out and going strong for the few months of the year you can wear them in the desert! Panama hat season comes much earlier there than it does where I live now.

I found these two vintage Stetsons on ebay with no official size listed. By golly I lucked out and they are a 7 5/8 which with some padding will fit. I am not overly excited about the Falcon because it has this strange mesh liner any info on that? The royal Stetson has the red lining common to the 50's. Not super pumped about the brim length because that was not listed on the auction either, but beggars can't be choosers.

I like it.
And nice haul, HT! I can't help you with the netted mesh or liner questions, but they look nice to me.

Confession time:

I bought that "milky chocolate" Wellington last week, and was so frustrated about the sweatband that I made reactionary purchases (two, for a total of just over what I paid for that Wellington). The first arrived today.

Lee Blue Label "Overbrook." From the auction photos, I thought it might be a very similar color to my "sunset-silverbelly" Stetson OR, or light tan with rose-orange undertones. Nope. To my very pleasant surprise, it's actually a much closer color to the Wellington, but way nicer. The felt is pristine, and the sweatband is supple, and one of those very light colored ones. I don't have many mid-ribbons, but I have a feeling this won't be my last, plus I really like the little twist on the bow. The brim binding is the first of its kind I've seen up close: relatively wide and quadruple stiched.

"Reactionary purchases" eh? I like that phrase!

That's the widest brim binding I've seen to date, and it looks sharp on that lid, which in turn looks sharp on you. Great colors.
