Thanks all on the Snyder's Velour. A few years ago a FLounger found a Derby and no one provided any info. There's a great Boater on ebay now-but a 6-3/4. No store info however. Seems to be a retailer large enough to have hats with factory tags on the bodies, but no credit to their origin. Has a US Union tag.

You're having a pretty great hat weekend.

Those are some of the biggest initials I can recall seeing in a hat. Do you know anything about the original owner?

Just whipped by Hatco and nabbed this Nostalgia, got home and did a very quick, dry bash and snapped this photo.

While I was there I figured I needed a new straw for the summer months and grabbed this new Stetson Whitehall milan:
(Actually it says "Genuine Shantung Panama" on the sweat band)

I grabbed this very nice, somewhat lightweight, felt off the bay. Has a great looking pug on it. Really a nice shaped hat, in great condition!

Anyone ever heard of this hat company? I am unable to locate any info. Probably a late 60's early 70's but nice style and color.
Looks like a great deal on a nice hat. Was watching it, and almost snagged it myself. but I have two brown eBay hats waiting at home for me, thought I'd better see them before going after any more in that color! I'll be home this week (after 3 1/2 months of perfect Florida weather!).

Love the Nostalgia, currently my favorite hat. So far, I've only found it in Caribou and black, though I didn't grab the black- still would probably buy the Mink if I find it at an outlet.

My weekend haul

I picked up one hat this weekend at a vintage clothing store. (Which is posted in the Derby/Bowler thread) I also picked up 5 vintage hat boxes from several antique malls that I visited, and my new prized possession. A HAT LIFE MAGAZINE!!!!!! Its from November 1950. I will scan and upload the advertisements this week. I started going through this sellers booth at one of the antique malls and he had some very unique publications from the late 1800's through the 1970's. I found anything from vintage sporting life magazines to programs from theaters around Chicago from the 20's and 30's. I figured if anyone had a hat life magazine, this guy would. I looked through hundreds of magazines, and all of a sudden I saw it. I was speechless for about 10 minutes. I'd say it was a pretty good weekend for fedora hunting.

Josh, you must tell us what "Open Selling" of hats is we are waiting to learn.

This issue of Hat Life is really interesting. Not only do they talk about "open selling," but there are pictures of the Danbury hatters parade in 1950 and numerous store window displays. The total issue is about 55 pages and Im hoping to scan them all in this week.

Thank you, Lefty! I was most excited to see full page advertisements for sweatband manufactures and tanners. I couldn't find any names that I believe corresponded with the sweatband stamps that Ive been finding, but maybe I overlooked something. There is also a number of hat body manufactures advertisements. I must have paged through the magazine about 10 times.
