That one's a beaut, Grayfox -- Congrats! You've been scoring some nice vintage lids lately.

Bolt -- great Disney 20!

Just picked up this Dobbs 20 from ebay. It is in superb condition and a nice addition to my small collection. Thanks to the Lounger who advised me on this one. I have no idea of the vintage. Can any of you give me an idea from the liner when the hat might have been made? Will post a head shot when I am in something other than my pajamas.

Another nice score, GF. Very sharp Dobbs. Congrats on another one.

Proudly present my new vintage dark grey trilby. Bought at Polish auction site a few days ago. It is a fur felt by Regent Privat (probably West German Company). I believe it is from 1950's or 1960's but I am not sure. Are you able to tell its age by looking at it? Short 2 inches brim, 14cm crown height. Near mint condition.

I got got this number from Thunder, another Disney Twenty. It's in ok shape, the felt is great, but filthy. I gave it a quick steam/brushing, but it looks like it's gonna need to be cleaned. Love the specs, but I have to say, my other Twenty is in pristine shape and much older. I just wish it were a 7 instead of a 7/8. this is why I got this 7. Thanks thunder.
...

Glad you like it. :)

The Clear Nutria is quite soft light and finely finished for a Western--could pass for a dress felt-just a little thicker than some. Arrived with felt under the sweatband for a perfect 7-1/4, but actually a 7-5/8.
Formerly owned by Calvin D. Johnson a U.S. Congressman from Illinois in the mid '40's. Came with a bonus black bow-tie as well.

And now he's a wide receiver for the Lions! A remarkable man. That is a very serious hat. The kind of hat worn by someone you don't mess around with.

Mayser Hut Seidl Homburg

Light to medium brown, size 58cm and near new condition. Sweatband date stamped 12/27/58. Hut Seidl Munich had a direct relationship with Mayser so this is some type of custom model. This is my new first place Homburg. More details in the German - Austrian thread.

That's a beauty. Its color is very similar to a vintage Borsalino I bought, a low-crown but medium to wide brim number. I was wondering what its vintage might be, but in view of this hat, I am now guessing mine to be late 50s.

A few years ago, I posted a photo of a black, clear nutria hat. We had a discussion on whether or not a dyed, "clear" fur made sense. What do you think?

A beauty indeed. This hat as well as the Borsalino version probably look the same from 30's-50's stylistically.

Mine is not a homburg, but I'll be darned if the color isn't identical to that one, or so it appears. I wore it extensively in the last three days, so the color is imprinted in my brain right now. So the vintage of that color, even if not a homburg, would be the wide range of 30s to 50s? Then I might narrow it down by, when were low-crown hats popular? The low crown gives it a different look than all the other hats I have bought. There must have been a run of five years (like late 50s?) when low crowns were big.

Adam Mainliner brothers...

Got these 2 today. Both are marked as Mainliner models and they are close to identical except for the ribbons and the color of one marking on the sweatband. I'll put more pics in the Adam thread.
