Turns out that Dinerman has (or had) a "Geo. I. Eakle" fedora from the '50s:

The ribbon on the whippet is black. The edge binding is gray.

1940's Crofut & Knapp

My newly acquired 1940's Crofut & Knapp fedora.

Un-reeded sweatband is unbelievably comfortable. Color of the hat, is a bit darker than it appears in the photo.
