I got a new Borsalino Alessandria from Bencraft hatters. Its light grey and weighs significantly less than all my other felt hats. It is so malleable that the slightest touch will leave a mark. I just shaped it without steam. I'm liking the brim up on this one. I just push down a little on the front of the brim to change it to a way that I've seen Allen do.

Thanks Job. That hat looks great. I was considering a Borsalino Film for my next hat purchase, but the Alessandria is beautiful. Maybe I can figure out a way to get both!

I talked to a salesman at Bencraft and he told me the Film was out of stock and it would be in late Dec. to early Jan.
Edit. At least in grey 7 5/8

That's probably a good thing. It'll keep me from pulling the trigger too fast.

Uh-oh. Just read your edit. I want the grey and my size is 7 3/8.

Job, I hadn't realized how light a grey the Alessandria from Bencraft is. Sort of silvery -- the classic silverbelly color, is it?

I do not agree that job's new Borsalino shows the "classic silverbelly" color. To my way of thinking, silverbelly is a neutral undyed color. It is not the same as a pigmented grey (silvery or otherwise).

To get a better feel for a classic silverbelly, consider this older clear beaver Stetson.

Zetwal, I'd call that color a cream. But then I'm thinking in terms of paints -- I used to build plastic models once, long ago, and so various shades of color trigger names in my mind. (Anybody remember Pactra 'Namel?)

To me, something called "silverbelly" ought to have some silver or light gray in it!
