Thanks for all the kind words. It is a bit sad to put it back in the box, and put the box on the bottom of the pile, but I know it's going to get a lot of wear as the seasons change.

My second Optimo milan arrived from, of all places, Guam...Best of all, I thought that the ribbon was shades of gray, but it's actually shades of green.

Gotta love that ribbon! Great snag, Lefty -- fantastic Milan. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

I am in New Orleans on business and low and behold a great hat shop was just a block away .... Soo I had to go buy something! Meyer the Hatter was the name of the place ... Huge selection!!! The guy in the store was very helpful but he talked me into a stingy (well stingy for me 2") with a low crown. I have lost quit a bit of weight so the stingy didnt look all that bad!! I needed a packable less costly hat for travel anyway. I typically wear taler Crowns and wider brims but what the heck I'm not going to smash my VS custom into a suitcase like I will this one so I took a chance!!!

Ok chaps honest opinions only!! Does the stingy look ok on me or just goofy!! I am so use to wearing larger brims that I never consider the shorter ones!!

Thanks
Kk

Not goofy at all. It has a hip, about-town vibe to it. You need it among your hat collection for around town.

I think it looks just fine on you... a suggestion - put the camera on a shelf, set the self timer and step away a bit, you'll get a better sense of the proportions without the distortion of a wide angle close-up.

Doesn't look bad at all. Looks quite nice, in fact. I recently went to purchase a Stetson Whippit (sp?) but let the gal at the hat store talk me into trying on a Mercury w/ a 2 inch brim. I must have spent an hour in the store in front of the mirror. Finally, I left without making any purchase at all; said I would bring my wife back to help me decide. I still can't decide!

This Tonak came in last night. It's beat up and dirty but wow this felt is impressive. It also had a wider ribbon on it at some point.

Sounds lovely  Did it belong to a member of the Czech Mafia who got offed?

I don't know but it definitely has that experienced look. Man that felt is sweet, though. It may have to be one of my workin' hats. It's a tad snug and I'm a little scared of the stretcher with the taped seam. Also, the sweatband is very wide.

That makes the decision easy. You like both of them so you get both of them.

Kkaderly,

From the first shot, I say it looks pretty good on ya, the second, I agree with AlanF, may be a little too close to tell. The hat in your avatar looks great!

Thanks Hatophile!! I love the hat in my profile ... the stingy I am still not sure about ... it will work nice in a suitcase and will be an interesting change of pace ... but it needs just a little more brim ... looks too much like the hats the kids are wearing now a days!!! :)

Nice hat, but I do agree with you that the wider brim fits you better. Also, I got my first fedora at Meyer the Hatter back in 97'. Large selection of hats.

Despite Johnny J's thoughts above, you still wear that stingy pretty well and if it works for your traveling purposes, then go for it. I don't think it looks like the more multi-colored and patterned stingies you see on the youngsters these days.

If you need inspiration in order to be more comfortable, just look up Daizawaguy, Bolthead, GWD and any other of a number of stingy-wearers pictures here on the Lounge.
