My 'new' Stratoliner arrived!~
And ..YEP...
its silverbelly.
Very nice shape, could stand a naptha bath. [which I hope to give it in the next week or so]
Brim is 2 5\8s, front pinch comes in at 4 7\8s and the back of the crown
is 4 1\2, and I have a hand creased c-crown in it. Very hand creased.
Overall a very nice Stetson Stratoliner!!

Most Excellent! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
If that brim is just too wide for your new taste in stingies, send it down here. I think I can gently stretch to a 7 5\8 for my noggin!!! ;) :p

1940's Brooks

The mysterious Brooks has arrived from Quebec. The brand doesn't ring a bell with me but there is a tag inside the hat that says that it was made in Canada. The felt is very nice and soft. A few moth tracks here and there, but I can live with that. Other than that the felt and the unreeded sweat are in good condition. The hat only needed a good brushing. I'd guess that the lid is from the early 1940's.

I put another diamond crease in the hat, but this time I decided to make the lines not as thight and pinched as I did with the previous bashes.

Dimensions:
-----------

Crown: 5 1/2" (open), 4 3/4" (creased)
Brim: 2 3/4"
Ribbon: 1 3/8"
Binding: 3/8"

Colors:
-------

Body: Medium Gray
Ribbon: Black
Binding: Lighter Gray

Mario, here is a shot of a Buckley liner (made in canada) from a newer (60s/70s) hat. Looks like they've been around for quite a while.

Pop's Akubra

Back in the 80's my father bought an Akubra Stockman while he was downunder.
img120.jpg
As far as anyone can recall he has worn it once since his return so other than being dusty it is like new and tonight he made it mine :D
The one problem is that it's a 57 and I am a 59 so I am going to have to find out how to stretch the sweatband a bit on it.
I do love this hat, always have lol
Also brought home the full 10 gallon Smithbilt I bought while skiing at Banff about 30 years ago (will get pics of both tomorrow). With a six inch crown on it I think I am going to have to modify it some for regular wear.

Stetson 3X Western

Picked up this Stetson 3X Western on the 'Bay for a BIN of $55. It looked to be in fantastic shape, and it is. Since I favor the outback look for my outdoors lids, as opposed to cowboy style, I took out the steamer. ;) Incidentally, the 3X felt on this Stetson is incredibly smooth to the touch -- it is really a very nice felt.
