P. & C. Habig Homburg

I just got this size 58cm 1961 P. & C. Habig Homburg back from Optimo. It had some ribbon / bow damage (otherwise excellent condition) so I had that replaced plus a clean and block. The ribbon width is about the same as the original which isn't common for Homburgs (more Bowler like). I think they did a great job as usual.

They also added a sweatband bow which I didn't ask for (nice touch).

Nice to see a Homburg in that sort of colour - looks great!
And is that a wind trolley/button on there as well?? Again, a bit different for a Homburg, isn't it?

Great Homburg!

I would say wind trolleys are not common but I have couple Homburgs with them (probably means I have too many) .

This olive-green Cav Edge MacLachlan just arrived from an Optimo cleaning - same felt feel as my Knox Twenty, maybe a tad floppier. Great-feeling, very solid hat:

Holy Smokes Scott!! Theres' something about the shape of fedoras like that,....I've got enough hats to do me for a while, but I'm pretty sure I'll be in the market for something like that in the not-so-distant future.

Very nice. Is that an exact replica?

Thanks, Scott - The only differences between this and the original are the lengthier ribbon (same pattern/style though) and probably the color itself isn't exact but other than that it works!

Oh, my goodness! What fabulous hats today!

Mayserwegener: That new ribbon is perfect! It's amazing what subtle touches can do to make big differences in a Homburg.

Scott: That's an amazing hat. Love the shape AND the color!

HP: That Borso looks great on you. Have another round!

Garrett: AMAZING!!!!!!! Now I want to see pics of you wearing those VSs out and about. Context, please!

WOW, Scott, that is a beauty. Did Optimo redo the ribbon for you or is that original? :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Sunbody teardrop fedora

I recently received a Sunbody teardrop fedora with a 3 inch brim. I chose to get the Guatemalan fine palm. I love the hat. I needed a hat to wear in the hot Florida sun. I chose to add some eyelets for extra ventilation. I decided on this hat because of it's ability to get wet. As advertised it also can be easily shaped with just water. I attempted to change the crown from a tear drop dent to more of a center dent. I have to say that I am new at all of this. Still I enjoyed the process and it was fun and easy. The next day I wore that hat to Raymond James Stadium to watch the Bucs loose to.... well it doesn't matter, they will loose to everyone this year. Still I enjoyed wearing the hat. I kind of wished that I got the smaller 2.5 inch brim. The 3 inch is great for the outdoors but a bit large for may face and urban use.

My new hat

Welcome to the lounge, scaber. You'll like it here. The folks are the finest.

Your Sunbody looks great. I have the same hat myself and just pinched the front a little tighter when it came. So far mine has worn like iron after being dipped in the ocean many times and sweated in for two summers. If you get hot you can wet it down and it keeps right on going. I did change the band to a wider horsehair band that I got from Mike Moore. I like the looks of it better. Enjoy. It's a great outdoors lid.

Thanks, Bob - The felt is pure beaver in a mojave color and the ribbon, binding and wind trolley seem to match very well.
