This is a P. & C. Habig Homburg size 58cm from 1961. It has a some damage to the ribbon / bow from mis-staking but other than that it is in super condition. Also thinner ribbon and a little more side curve than usual. Might send it to Optimo to for a new ribbon/bow. More details on the other thread.

Love the shape! A new ribbon would really dress it up.

Today I made a spur-of-the-moment trip, my first of the fall season, to the Stetson Outlet Store in Garland, Tx. While browsing through the selection of fedoras, I found a bit of a rarity there; an immaculate black Stetson Pinnacle made of 100% beaver. To be immaculate was rare enough but the markings on the band were the real kicker. I was told that the company made six hats and sent to the President for him to select from, and then return the others. Apparently, this is one of the returns, a size 7, since Obama is a 7 3/8. I don't know whether or not it will have some value some day, but the person I spoke with said he had had several calls from people wanting to find one.

Mr. Paladin, What a find! I would make sure to keep it in mint condition. Great historical piece.

Sue, Wow that is old one with a high crown and in super condition! The wide brown ribbon / bow and tawny (?) felt combo are beautiful.

Wide (2 7/8") brim with 3/8" binding! Nice wide ribbon! :) :) :)

I don't know which is more gorgeous Sue - that hat, or you wearing that hat!

That's a bottler! (Which is roughly equivalent to a stonker)

(The picture is from the eBay auction. http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380160604933&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT)

While the auction was running, there was some confusion about the size of the hat. According to the seller, the circumference was 22" (or even less, as suggested in correspondence with interested Loungers). In fact, the hat measures as a true 7 1/4.

The colour of the felt is grey, with a green shade. Especially, the ribbon is spectacular. It's colour is inbetween purple and brown, and both sides of the ribbon have an embroidered edge. The brim has an overwelt, enriched with embroidered stitching. (More pictures to follow!)

The hat is clearly used, but in great shape. The felt is as supple as the felt of my Playboy.

And on top of all of this ... WOOWW!! ... it fits as if it was made for me. Boy, am I happy :) :)

I love reading posts like this where someone is really enjoying their new old hat. Good for you, Bantam Man! :eusa_clap

Very nice Adams. I also have one of the Johnnyphi Adam Fleetwoods.

Very nice / interesting Stetson Derby. Who is the manufacturer? I can't make it out from the photo.

Brilliant find! Who would have worn a derby in provincial Roermond!?

The firm Julicher still seems to exist, as a shop for 'exclusive' woman's fashion.

New Panama made by local (New Zealand) hat company, 'Hills Hats'. Nothing fancy, but I like it, light and cool for the coming summer.
Woven in Equador, but blocked in Wellington (NZ) with NZ leather sweatband. Might not be a Montecristi, but it's nice to support the local businesses :)

G'day Dreispitz. What a stonker of a bowler! And you're one of the few who can carry them well.

If I wore a bowler it would look like I'd fallen head first into a potty.

I like that band; it looks like it is a very nice piece of leather. I suspect it is not prone to let the hat slide around. The hat suits you well, too.

Great to see hats from other locals. Do they make felts?

Re Dobbs Rainbow

Thanks Sue, Mayserwegener and HPG.

Call me mad, but it is not contageous (at least not to family & friends :eusa_doh:) and not very dangerous. ;)
