Borsalino Qualità Extra Eextra Superiore Size 7 or 61 cm. but suitable for a head size 60 or 7 1/2 in the USA. The felt is a mixture, one called "Misto Acciao" (Mixed Steel), the other "Misto Quaglia" (Misto Quail)

The linings are of different colors and the finishes denote quality hats and certainly high priced hats sold in Cortina d'Ampezzo

The ribbons are one of the examples of Borsalino's "creativity" in a period of great change in the aesthetics of hats.
Presumably the 1960s from the shape and proportions of our subjects. Bought in a branch of a shop of which I can't find any trace, probably during a holiday stay

Let's talk about felt which is one of those to remember in the immense production of Borsalino, when marketing research required having particular products different from the competition.
The Misto (Mix) is a combination of fur and wool to be able to obtain this type of melange colors with the stitching on the sides to embellish the workmanship.

I think this is one of the last purchases, out of pure curiosity, in this period of my life as a collector. We'll see what the future temptations will be

Stefano, this cup of tea Is far from my taste too but Misto Quaglia is a new entry in Borsalino colors and Misto Acciaio is not so common. Said so, the rest of curiosity Is the marvellous touch of the felt and the accurate works on the hats. Hope someone will enjoy these "differenti twins"

Panizza Special. No label, so don't know the age, but there is some cellophane inside, however it is broken, but my guess is 60's.
Felt and sweatband are in good condition.
I have to stretch it bit to fits my head and give it a good brush......

After brushing, stretching, brim up will do the job best imho.

A minor ebay snafu that worked out well... Had bought a cheaper hat and THIS was in the box when it arrived (got ahold of the seller and ended working a deal for BOTH hats). Its a nice clean '85 era Stetson James Dean Foundation 4x beaver in silverbelly and actually in a 7 1/4 Long Oval.. Knocked off a bit of dust and it fits perfectly. The front brim seems to want to snap back up on its own so Ill fire up the steamer here in a bit and fix that. An ebay with a happy ending

I actually hat the hat in my watchlist, but it had inched up beyond what I wanted to pay for it. With the discount they offered I got it for what it was worth to me. I figure I find enough $25 hats... might as well pay market price for something once in a while. I got a nice hat at a decent price, and the seller didnt get burned either... win-win

First time I've ever come across a Del Monico. I recognized the brand from some that Charlie @hatsRme has posted, and figured for $5 it was worth a try. Needless to say, I'm pretty impressed by the quality of this one. The felt's a little dense for much central Alabama summertime wearing, but it's definitely going to be a favorite come cooler weather.

Some where here there ought to be a big boy that would give it some love. Till you find someone, thanks for rescuing it. Around my neck if the east texas woods about all I can find in flea markets and junk stores are trucker caps and old beater cowboy hats.

Here too most of the time. There was a mid-‘60s stingy Borsalino in another booth, but they wanted $80.

Something unusual came in the mail today... A hat that I really dont have to do anythng to lol. My old silverbelly Moose River was lonely so I found one of the brown ones ( real similar to my first one in 1972). This has always been one of my favorite modest brimmed, soft, casual hats...Now I have a choice of color

I SAID i dont have to do anythng to it, but I probably WILL take off the leather band and install a decent ribbon soon.

The silverbelly actually looks better than the picture shows... its fresh out of the gas bath and still drying... still need a good after bath brushing too
