P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität, Reine Handarbeit", 58 cm, possibly 1930s late 1920s and reworked later. There is no paper label but the Liner is stitched in so if reworked it was possibly in the 1950s. The Felt has a Natural finish but a soft hand. The Sweatband, Liner and Band are of very high quality.

I have a NOS condition P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität, Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a" that has very similar components and from about the same time period. This is definitely one of my finest hats.

Wonderful find, Steve.

Funny how there doesn't seem to be many P & C Habigs around. They don't pop up as often as other brands.

Ca. 1920s/30s Hückel "Flexible" Bowler arrived today.

20230228_152009.jpg

Originally sold in an establishment in a town some 95km south-west of Copenhagen.

20230228_152233.jpg

The name of the establishment and town is nicely written in gold lettering on the soft, thick sweatband.

I think a lady took over the use of this one due to the added scarlet ribbon.

20230228_152333.jpg

Luckily, it was easy to remove and revealed the original ribbon and bow underneath.

20230228_152741.jpg

As can be seen, it has some dents. Hope it protected the head underneath.

Its 5 1/4 punti size is a slightly tight fit, but I think it will stretch a bit.

Nice catch, Steve. These dents should come out with some luck and some steam.

Thanks Stefan. It's not the best of my 3 or 4 Hückel "Flexibles", but it is a nice new catch re Danish hat establishments.

Picked up my first Borsalino for $100 off the bay. It came a little dirty and smashed but it cleaned up pretty nice. It has a 2 1/2 inch brim and the felt is nice and soft and quite moldable. I know it's a recent production but all in all it's a pretty nice hat and I'm happy with the purchase.

Looks good on you! Did you find it fit true to size? Borsalinos of this era tend to run small in my experience.

It fits well, and quite comfortable actually, but I'm not sure how to interpret the size on this because it says 7 1/2 (uk?) and 61 on the size tag. I'm normally a 60 so I'd say by that measurement it definitely runs small.

Sweet deal! Great lid!! (I have one, always well received)
But apparently now you have competition from your doppelgänger with the same(?) hat.
