It’s been four months and two days for me, but things are flaring up again. More time is being spent every day looking at custom hat pages, local markets, and checking our resident enablers’ (you know who you are) activity.
We recently bought a hat stand. Etsuko thinks it will reduce clutter in our living room.
View attachment 483997 All I see is more space for new hats:rolleyes:
I like the hatstand, Gary. However, I think Etsuko will be disappointed regarding the less clutter idea.

Just saying

My first Stefeno of Spain hat. I suspect it’s made by the same people who make Fernández y Roche hats, but that’s just speculation. The felt is very nice…surprisingly so. It’s thin, dense, and has a nice hand. There are minimal stiffeners in it and the is borderline too easy to shape. The brim is 2 ½” and the open crown is between 5 ⅝ and 5 ¾ inches. There’s too much paper for me, but I’ve seen worse. The felt is black, but when placed next to another black hat the felt shows a that it’s a bit lighter than true black. The sweatband is too narrow and the reverse side is raw and rough. It’s functional, comfortable, and real leather, but it’s disappointing to see corners cut on a pure beaver hat. This is part of the Stefeno Black Label line, and it’s not a bad modern hat. I can say I prefer it to its contemporary Borsalino offerings, but then I’m comparing beaver to rabbit/rabbit and hare. I’d say it fits true to size, which is something I can’t say about modern Borsalinos.
This is currently on eBay.

Rehfus & Cie. Kehl - Rhein "Paradox", FP 5, possibly late 1930s. I really like the form of this Stiff Felt and it's in great condition. Dense black Felt with a very nice smooth finish. According to the the seller this Stiff Felt belonged to a traveling classical musician that was born in 1882 and it was stored away in his travel trunk.

The new pride and joy of my small hat collection is here. My very own unlined Stetson Playboy. It is in remarkable condition, sweat is soft and supple, and just a few small imperfections in the felt. It is the lightest most malleable felt I have ever touched, I'm pretty sure a stiff breeze will change the crease. It has the lapel cord and the single subtle stitch around the brim.

Beautiful. That bush behind you in the first headshot makes it look like you’ve grown some long blond frizzy hair!

This came in last week, but today weather permitted taking some pics.

Tirard Supra fedora in black. Size 57 I think because there are no labels inside the hat and it came without a ribbon. This ribbon was supplied by a hat that had no redeeming qualities other than supplying this ribbon, which gives the hat a more modern look than its actual age. Raw edge brim at 7cm and crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Takes on every shape you want to put in or even don't want to put in. Weighs 97 grams and the felt has a lovely hand to it. I think it's from the forties because of the sweatband, shape and proportions, but it could even be a bit earlier.

Finally finished my work on my new Borsalino 50 Grams hat in Dark Blue. Hat arrived unstiff and floppy, so I stiffened it and gave it a teardrop. This hat is blocked differently than their Classico and Bellagio models. It has a squarer crown and a 2-5/8" brim, where the Classicos are more tapered and have a 2-3/8" brim. Here are the results:

This hat is unlined apparently to save weight, and is supposed to be rollable. The "Qualitia Superiore" logo is stamped into the felt. The sweatband is made of grosgrain ribbon as thin as the hatband. I'm surprised that they even included a sweatband, as a ribbon that thin probably would not keep back perspiration.

Great catch, Stefan. The added ribbon really gives that Tirard some pizazz.

Love it!

Lagomarsino Nutria Olive Green 7 5/8
Goodwill find.
Really like the felt. Factory teardrop bash easily steamed out
Fits more like a 7 1/2
Like the hat, particularly for the price paid.
Would like it more if the crown had less taper.

Love the color, Dave. I’ve had a couple Lagomarsino hats with “Nutria” on the liner like yours and then wording on the sweatband that indicates it was rabbit? I’ve never worked it out.

So, how much does it actually weigh?
