Just out of curiosity, have you contacted the hatter and expressed your dissatisfaction to him/her/them?Just received the HJ Indy poet in rabbit, with the raiders turn. I have to say it’s a bit disappointing. One, for that price there is no hat box??? Who’s heard of such thing these days. And two, accuracy, the crown converge upward with an angle, but I thought the main feature is its parallel sides? It just looks like a regular little fedora.
Definitely can not let that pass. Nice additions Marcel.Bought this 6 Borsalino's in 1 lot. Size 57 to 59. Price was 100 euro, so i could not let these hats go..... Pictures from the seller..... ;-)

Stetson Nutria Quality Western
Late 1940’s to Early 1950s
Dark Brown Nutria Felt
About 5 inch crown as shaped (prob 6 Open)
Embroidered Stetson Nutria Liner
3 1/4 brim - 3 Ply Ribbon
So I’ve had a hankering for an older brown western. Cause you know…. Gotta keep up with my lack of cattle. Was thinking of something similar to my black Miller Western. Something with a softer older style moldable felt. I came across this Brown Stetson Nutria Quality and thought I could check two boxes at once. Asking price was a bit higher than I would normally want to go but I figured might not have another chance at one like this.
Out of the box it was in pretty decent shape. Still gave it a good brushing to clean up and stream for shape. As expected the Nutria felt is a bit more stiff than beaver/rabbit felts of the era…. Which I believe to be late 1940s to easily 1950s…. But still shapes just fine.
I started by opening up the crown and working on the brim some. Then I settled on this center dent and front pinch. The fit and fell is perfect.
All and all it settles in nicely with what I was looking for. I wasn’t looking for a daily wear kinda hat.. but really it feels comfortable for me.

Wow, Joe, that is amazing! Love the colors and everything. That's one hat I'd buy even if it wasn't my size. I hope to see you wear it often. I'll bet you get a lot of compliments .View attachment 421092
Cavanagh Bowler - Derby
Tobacco Brown - Fawn Felt
5 1/4 crown
1 inch reddish brown grosgrain ribbon
Approx 2 inch brim with d’Orsay curl
2 inch to front 2 inch to curl on sides 2 1/2 to edge
@BobHufford pointed out this brown Cavanagh bowler to me some weeks back. The asking price at the time was more than I was wanting to go. A bit of patience paid off when after a few weeks it hadn’t sold, I sent the seller a modest offer. After a small counter offer the hat was on its way. @steur half jokingly, raised the concern hoping it was in fact brown and not just bad photography. I can happily confirm for Stefan it is indeed brown in color… more so a lighter tobacco brown… or being that the last two letters on the torn price tag are wn.. maybe Fawn? Speaking of the torn price tag it ends in 5.00… I’m guessing maybe original price of $15 on what I’d estimate to be a mid to later 50s Cavanagh that was sold at Meyer’s of Lexington, KY. Sadly the golden size 7 size tag that was shown unattached in the sellers photos did not appear to have made the journey with the hat. This hat makes a fine addition to my derby stable. Thanks again Bob for the tip off.

Looks great on you. Congratulations!Yes, the one and only Akubra Leisure Time! Pronounced "lezhurre" for those who are up over as opposed to down under. Take a gander at the hat band. Real bird feathers have been woven into it, plucked from pheasant, Guinea fowl, and members of the partridge family. Presented by my lovely wife as we celebrate 31 hat filled years. Thanks sweetheart!

Thanks Brent! I was hard pressed to find many with its color and style to compare it to. Closest I think where one Bowen has and the one you moved on to Robert.. though those were more in an OR style with the brim binding (truth be told more the style I was looking for) That made me realize I’d better pull the trigger on this one straight away.Wow, Joe! That’s a great hat. Those aren’t easy to find in any size.
Thank you Randy. I don’t tend to wear my full on westerns out too often.. but I tell you I do intend to wear this one when we go out Friday night… regardless of what my wife saysWow, Joe, that is amazing! Thanks so much Jim.That's an excellent hat, Joe. Good get.
