Old no brand 4X Quality medium nap light Silverbelly

0010E695-8583-4874-BA67-07991D854A31.jpeg

4X Quality
5 1/2 open crown
Medium nap felt
Light Silverbelly off white felt with brown/tan undertones.
1 inch tan grosgrain mid ribbon
3 1/4 brim with 1/8 tan grosgrain

One of several old hats from a rancher in the Midwest. This one in fairly decent shape for what appears an older hat. I brushed clouds of dust out of this one and the felt responded nicely. Nice 5 1/2 VERY soft open crown and a 3 1/4 brim. The sweat is very soft and supple and fairly thin. No brand markings of any kind. Just a hand written 4 digit number inside. It is possible it originally had a thin ribbon and this mid ribbon was used to cover a tear in the crown as I do see a patch under the sweat. A few yellowish stains here and there I may attempt to clean down the road and a bit of mothing Overall this is a very soft felt. Might benefit from a good steaming.

The Stetson Ermine arrived to Juan Carlos' home in Texas. He says there are no moth divots, but plenty of stains. I will ask him to take a look behind the sweatband tomorrow. No certificate and no ermine tails, but I asked the seller to rry to find them and sell them to me separately.

Good news! The Ermine tails, certificate, ribbon, and silver medallion were hiding in the leather case. Pics of the paper tag, too

Thanks, guys! Turns out mine is the sixth hat in series G. As I understand it, there were l0 hats per series, from A to J. I don't remember where I learned or imagined that, so I could be wrong. Again:)

This almost looks like a "Max" table setting except on a much smaller (and lower quality) scale. Eight hats from an estate sale and two from an online auction.

I'll put up some quick and dirty pics and then (eventually) get these in the appropriate brand threads.

This was the one I was after. Notice I said "one" ...

That Borsalino is a stunner Bob. I can actually confirm that it is a Gorasgu. The number on the top left of the label is 707P. There are two other known hats with that same number and both are Gorasgu models. So a Gorasgu in Muflone colour: congrats! That bowkeeper is great by the way.

It's odd that this is the third hat I have from the same store in the town of Nampa, Idaho (population under 100,000). The hats cover decades and three changes to the store name (Nampa 'D' Men's Store, Nafzinger and Nafzinger-Banks).

A tremendous haul. Kid in a candystore kind of stuff. That Portis is a lovely hat as well.

Might need some TLC, but looks like there's a good hat in there that needs some attention, Joe.

That is one heck of a find, Max. And in a size 7 1/8 too. With some shrinkage over the years that is my size! You think it can be done before Christmas?:D

Thanks Stefan! Excited to have them. I appreciate you confirming the model as the tag was too torn up, faded and covered over to decipher.
